Being Demolished

The "experience" was booked through Qantas Holidays in Australia....where do I begin??
After arriveing at 9.00pm we were shown to our room 1033.
Never in my life have I asked for a change of room, however the stink of moisture, and stale smoke imediately impacted on my sinuses. We were unsucessfully shown three more rooms before settling on 466 which had been renovated 12 months earlier.
The first day at breakfast was the last, I have a hip injury and my wife a knee replacement, we were told we had to climb and decsend 28 stairs up and down.
The first day was a strugle but after my wife came down with puffy eyes from the chemicals and smells in the restaurant we retreated to Delifrance across the road.
On the Sunday morning were were woken at 1.15a,m with banging and rushing water above us. As this is where the pool was I was worried that we would be flooded out.
After an hour the duty manager arrived with the traditional Singapore responce VELLY SOLLY. The noise was mad by staff moving furniture and mopping-up after a private function.
The next day after failing to get back to sleep to well after 3.30 am, we were offered a room on the 11th floor, and a FREE late check-out on the day of our flight. Evelyn the Guest Relations manager was terrific.
It was eventually explained that the hotel was to be demolished at the end of 2008, and let me warn you the attitude of the hotel reflects it. If they flew me there and accomodated me free - I would refuse to go this place has well passed it's use-by-date and Qantas are negligent in continuing to list it as 4 star accomodation in their Holiday book to agents.

I stayed here in May with my wife for a week. The location is fantastic for a hotel charging their rates, right in the middle of Orchard road. All the main malls are within easy walking distance, and the Orchard MRT station is about 5 mins away. Unfortunately the rooms aren't quite as good as the location. We found them to be a bit on the small side and a little tired looking. However they have everything you need and were very clean and well looked after. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the bar was ok if a little small. We had breakfast in the restaurant every day and found it to be very good, there is a nice selection of hot and cold foods to satisfy all tastes. We had no problem at all with outside noise as some others have mentioned, however the view from our window, on the back of the hotel, was only of the backs of other buildings. Still ,you don't go to Singapore to spend your time in the hotel room.
To sum up, it's comfortable, reasonably priced for it's location which is brilliant and a pretty good spot for a holiday in Singapore.

Stayed here for one night on a stopover. Great location right on orchard road, staff very helpful and friendly service, both at front desk, bar, and concierge.
Room was adequate, clean, but tired - sense that the hotel needs a refit now. I booked it because I got a good net deal, and if you are looking just for a good place to lay your head, it's worth choosing.
The pool has very substandard changing rooms - small and no room to store belongings, plus you get there via a back stair which means you have to wear shoes there to change. Not what I would expect from a modern hotel. The security was also poor - no restrictions on lift access which must increase the theft risk.
Overall, good for a quick pass through, but not for an extended stay.

We stayed at Park Hotel Orchard on 22nd April 2008 for 2 nights (to visit Singapore Expo) and we are rather dissappointed with our stay for the price we had paid. The hotel has a perfect location for shopping, unfortunately the quality of rooms, services, hotel maintenance and room amenities are relatively poor.
We can hear traffic noises throughout our stay, mainly because the hotel property is located on Orchard Road. The bed are bad as it is too springy, you can feel the entire mattress moves whenever you or your partner toss on the bed. The toilet has inadequate amenities; basic item like cotton buds are not provided.
I would suggest another hotel within the shopping belt of Orchard, like Royal Plaza on Scotts which is much better in every ways i.e. service, cleanliness, value etc.
I doubt I will stay in this hotel again!
