After hearing so many dodgy review of this hotel I was sceptical and prepared for the worst but was extremely happy with our stay.
The concierge was extremely helpful (the trick is to be friendly with them) we booked a tour with Manu who set us up with a driver of an extremely nice 4WD which took us around the city (for reference ask for Chandra {driver}). Breakfast was included and was nice but lacked bacon! The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing i haveto say against the rooms were the air con was on full bore and quite cold.
WARNING- Looking to relax we went down to the massage parlour on the ground floor, the labyrinth sprawl under ground and upon paying we were all sent to different rooms which were extremely seedy it seemed to be a massage/brothel as each person was asked if they wanted to take the experience further.
If your looking for shops time square directly behind is advisable for night markets I would the China town night markets these were amazing including the food at hawker stalls. Do not leave KL without going to them.
Location was great walking distance to everything and monorail station nearby.
Extremely good hotel made an extremely good holiday

During a roundtrip in malaysia we stayed at federal hotel for 2 nigths.
When we arrived a 5pm our room wasn´t ready. So we were told (in not the friendliest way) to wait for about 45minutes. After one hour we were tired of waiting and asked again. In this time the chambermaid only cleaned one 2-bed-room. We were told that if we want to have a doublebed (as we ordered in our reservation) we had to wait another hour.
At around 7pm we went up to our room. It was terribly dirty! At our look around we could review everything our previous tenant had done... Furthermore the room was so tiny, that we couldn´t even turn around. The concierge came up because of our angry call. As answer to our question of the missing towels she told us, that towels aren´t included and that we should talk to the maid, because she is not allowed to come to the rooms?!
So we went angry and tired to the reception. Astonishingly they had a free room! So we went up to 9th floor. The room was a bit bigger, not nicer, but nearly well cleaned.
When we opened the courtain it was pitch dark outside. We had an extriemly nice view into a ventilation shaft. Accomodiationnoise and kitchensmell from 6.30am to 11.45pm and no sunray.
Next day we had breakfast at 9am. There wasn´t any space in the really big dining-hall. We had a bid variety of meals but nothing looked amazingly. Our private highlight was the musty bread. So we left with emty stomach.
During breakfast we asked the hotel-boy to take care of our luggage. He asked unfriendy for how long we are away, because taking care of luggage is not his job?!
As a resume i can only say, that nobody seemed to know whats his work:
a concierge, who can´t help
a maid, who can´t clean up
a boy, who can´t take care of luggage
a cook, who can´t make a difference between fresh and old
Luckily our sightseeingtour and the eveningevents in kuala lumpur were great. Otherwise it would have been the badest stay in history!
PS.: On our flight home my boyfriend told me, that he saw a cockroach in the bathroom, when we left. So -never ever federal hotel again!

After reading the reviews posted about this hotel we were quite sceptical about staying there. However after a disasterous first
night at The Brisdale Hotel, we figured it couldn't get any worse.
First impressions of the hotel were good. The concierge was extremely nice as were the bell boys. Upon arrival at reception there was a long queue so we were surprised when the general manager approached us and checked us in personally. The hotel we were assigned was on a non smoking floor and it was spotless. Small in size but perfectly adequate for our needs.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety and the pool and gym were well equipped. On our last night my friend contracted
food poisoning (not from The Federal!!) and was up all night. Due to check out the next morning we were apprehensive about our chances of making our night flight to Bangkok. I went to reception to ask if it would be possible that we could have a late checkout as my friend was quite ill, the manager assured me not to worry about it, to check out whenever was necessary. He also took me to a Pharmacy to get medicine and told me that if necessary he could have a Doctor there ASAP. Thankfully a doctor wasn't required, the medicine did the trick and my friend felt well enough to fly out that night. Upon checkout we were told not to worry about the mini bar bill, that it was complimentary, a first in seven weeks of travel.
All in all I would rate this hotel highly for their facilities but mostly for there customer service.

Stayed there with husband for 4 nights, booked the hotel based on travel agent's recommendation. Already specified we want double/king size bed in a non-smoking room. Brochures said that we get automatic upgrade if staying 4 nights. Checked in at 7pm, receptionist said only a room with twin bed available for that night as the hotel is full (even though we ALREADY PAID for it before we arrived) and promised to move us to a king-size bed better room the next day. We took it as we believed that they would do that.
The next day, after breakfast we asked the receptionist, they said the room being promised is not available yet. Went out, came back at 4.30pm, they said room still not ready, so have to wait an hour. 5.30pm, turned out the replacement room smells cigarette/cigar badly even though it was on the non-smoking floor. The bathroom stinks of urine, too.
Husband not happy, so we complained and asked for another room with king-size bed. After much complaining they offered another room, upon inspection the room was clean but faces a blank wall with very noisy wind-aircon sound.
To cut the story short, we had to stay put in our 2 single bed-bedroom for the entire stay, 4 nights, with no upgrade or no apology for that, as we have already paid for all 4 nights and breakfasts. The receptionist and the hotel manager even had the cheek to say that, "we had helped you a lot, showed you lots of rooms, but your voucher doesn't say that you get upgraded to a better room... the hotel is very full at the moment ... bla... bla.. bla..."
Even though the location is good, needless to say we
are definitely NOT going to stay there again and will NOT recommend the hotel to anyone else.
