Booked the hotel on lastminute.com, we paid extra for have a "luxury" room with air conditioning, god were we disappointed. After travelling for 5 hours we were greeted by staff who could not even bother to look at us... Our room was a box room with bird excrements on the so called duvet. After a 1st complaint, we finally got the room that we paid for only to be greeted by the air conditioning not working and dust in full view.
I was so appalled by the condition of the so called 4 stars hotel, obviously the rating must be reviewed.
The hotel restaurant where we decided to have dinner on the first night was a disgrace to english cuisine and the service was, what can i say, i've never come across people so rude and unprofessional in my life. I definitely know what i am talking about as i used to work for a big hotel chain which included 3 stars to 5 stars deluxe hotels. The least you expect is some respect as at the end of the day you are the one paying their wages as without guests the hotel will be no more.
Since then, we have been back to Manchester with a popular budget hotel and i can tell you that i was pleasantly surprised by the level of service.
One advice, is you want to make the most of your stay in a hotel; forget this one, it is not worth a penny as far as i am concerned.

Basic cheap accommodation is probably the best way to sum this hotel up.
This hotel has chosen its desired market and prices itself accordingly. A yellow sign hangs outside the building stating ‘rooms from ?45’, so do not arrive expecting a luxurious, peaceful, or relaxing hotel. I had read this site, I knew what to expect, but yet still I stayed for a night. Why? I was on a stag do with a group of friends and the group wanted a cheap base and I did not organise the trip. Therefore I arrived knowing that things may be a bit grim and was not surprised to be stood in reception with another all male group checking in and a hen party.
The hotel in general is dated. It needs serious investment to improve things. Our room had no window, the air conditioning made a racket and did not really work, the bed was cheap and not very comfortable, and the room was just about clean. When I finally got to bed in the small hours my room was based above one of the hotels nightclubs/bars. Good luck sleeping if you do not have a drink before retiring for the night.
The location is great and right in the centre. However, having driven past an Ibis hotel and a Premier Inn only yards away I could not help but wonder why we were not booked in there. Our twin room cost ?55 per night and I would suggest that is on the limit of what they could get away with charging. If you have read this site you will know what to expect for your pennies.

I've been reading some of the other reviews by other guests who claim to have stayed at this hotel. Some people just have to complain. Listen, this is a nice hotel in probably the best location in Manchester. We found the staff to be very helpful in every way and I'm wondering how do these other so called reviewers approach workers in these hotels in the first instance anyway. It's a good, clean and very warm hotel surrounded with a nice atmosphere.

I booked a three night stay as was in Manchester Flat Hunting, Having arrived off the sleeper train from Scotland at 6am I was delighted that I could check in so early as their was rooms available and I wasnt charged any extra to check in so early. I did phone the night before to ask if I could and they said if the hotel had rooms available then it shouldnt be a problem. Hotel is basic but in an excellent area (few minutes walk to central shops and piccadilly station and the main bus station around the corner. Room was nice enough, although a nightmare to open it with the keycard. Had a room above the nightclub and I was prewarned about the noise but infact it wasnt too bad. This is an excellent hotel for staying in the city centre on a budget and at ?40.00 a night you get what you pay for. Overall no complaints and the stay was fine especially for a single woman on her own.
