We stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend during our may holidays. The location of the hotel I would say better will suit young people. It is situated between Place Pigal (many sex shops and bohemia places with ugly women inside) and Monmantre with the plenty of places to have coffee, croissants, lunch enjoying typicaly Paris views. Most of the people in the area of Monmantre are parisians. It is about 30 min to go to Opera and 40 to Louvre, but this never disturbed us, we never took tube as weather was just fantastic, warm and sunny. Make sure you take cruise on Batobus (12 eur), visit Louvre (9eur), and LIDO is just magnificent and definetely worth 100euro (tickets are on sale in hotel reception), but come at least an hour before start to get better seats!!!!I can't say i really liked this Budda-Bar, typicaly turistic place with min 100 euro bill.We also enjoyed very much bier Leffe in Cafe M on crossroads of Notre Damme de Lorrette and Maubege street, 5 min to go from hotel. Also make sure you visit boulevard Monparnasse (famous cafe Select) and Monparnasse tower (59 floors with fantastic view). And I would not recommend you going to all this lap dance in Pigal if you really want its better going to Champs Elysee for the real lap dance. In general i just loved Paris and definetely would come back and most likely will stay in this hotel again.

I love Montmartre and the 18th arrondissement of paris is the most charming in my opinion. Hotel St George is oppposite Pigalle metro station so very easy access, nextto the huge SEXODROME!!!!!!!! ( that was a bit of a shock), it is also 5min walk from Blanche station and Moulin ROuge.
you can also walk easily to Abbesses and do the tour from Amelie Poulain the movie. its lovely. the Sacre COeur is only 10 minutes away, with lovely cafes and restaurants for typical French breakfast or lunch.
my only concern witht hat hotel, is that they overbooked the night we came, and they didnt have a room for us, even though we had ooked a long time in advance through Eurostar website!
after 45minutes at 10.30pm and a lot of negotiation we were sent by taxi ( paid by the hotel) to Timhotel Montmartre( which is much nicer). The very next day we were told to go back to hotel St George. Then I would strongly not recomment spending a weekend night there! Boulevard Clichy is the centre of the Latin quarter and people NEVER SLEEP! our bedroom was right on the street and even with windows shut, ( no air con), we could hear the loud people having a greattime obviously until dawn.
the staff is very friendly, but the hotel is a bit old and needs a a bit a refurbishment ( wallpaper ripped off, stains on walls and ceiling, broken cupboards, old shower...)
anyway that didnt spoil our weekend because Paris made up for it, we had a great time anyway.
to be honest, those hotels dont need to make an effort because Paris is Paris and whether they make fforts or not, tourists will still come back because the city is amazing.

I agree with the posts from the past year or two. The hotel is very near the Pigalle metro station, the Moulin Rouge and across the street is the Montmarte district. It is also in the heart of sex shops and you may get asked to visit the shops if you walk by in the evening. You're also right between 2 large dept/grocery stores and near many restaurants, although that seems to be true in most of Paris. The rooms are very small but clean. The elevators are also very small, and it was sometimes quicker to take the stairs. In the winter, the room's radiant heater has a bit of trouble keeping up with the cold, but the front desk can provide extra blankets. The front desk staff was very friendly. Breakfast, included in the room price, is not fancy but it was good. I booked through GTS Travel and got a price of 50 euros, so I was very satisfied.
