This hotel, in my experience, offers very large, comfortable rooms, a generally professional Reception service and quite adequate breakfast facilities. It is located in a spectacular alpine setting, with magnificent views.
There is a plasma TV in each room, with all the main French channels plus BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, CNN and (for anyone interested in Italy) RAI Uno. Channels from some other countries are also available.
The hotel's only real drawback, I think, is that it is in the far south of inner Grenoble, several miles from the historic centre. There is not much to see in the surrounding area. However, there is a regular tram service from Grand Place, a couple of minutes away.
Grenoble itself is a delightful city. It has fewer historic sights than, say, Bordeaux, but there are quite enough major attractions and of course it is well worth going up into the mountains. I found the people remarkably friendly and polite.
Grenoble might be especially worth visiting in the next three years or so, when the Palais du Parlement (or Palais de Justice) is due to be converted into a cultural and leisure centre. This will also house the Tourist Information Centre.

Ok, I appreciate this is a cheap hotel but thankfully I stayed just one night. The photos on Expedia must be at least 20 years and really do not give any impression of how dated, scruffy and unappealing this place is. When booking I did think the low price was a reflection of the out-of-town location but since the tram station is highlighted as being 100 metres away I thought that nipping into Grenoble centre would be no problem. However, since the tram station / shopping centre has been modelled on downtown Basra I braved Grenoble's horrendous one way system in my car to find a restaurant since if the hotel's restaurant is in the same league as the hotel it would be madness to eat there. The "multilingual staff" may be able to grunt in several languages but seem to have lost the will to live (if you can find any hiding away in the dark corners). The rooms are plain nasty. 1980's floral, nauseous pastel hues and tired and chipped furniture. This place lives on disappointed coach parties who are booked in by miserly travel agents. I returned to the hotel after eating in Grenoble and found the empty bar. After searching for someone who could pour a drink we sat down to relax when someone turned all the lights out at 11pm without even a goodnight! Do yourself a favour, if you want a clean, good value hotel in Grenoble, stay in the centre and have a better stay in an Ibis.
