My friend and I stayed at the Alexandra Hotel in June of 2008. It was completely affordable, and in a great location! It's in a residential area, so it felt safe enough to explore by foot. It's only 2 blocks off Queen Street, close to several local markets and great stores. The room had a small kitchette, so we made good use of our fridge. The room was a decent size, the bathroom needed a little updating - but was nice and clean. One definite bonus was the A/C unit in the room. It was old, but kept us nice and cool in the horribly humid Toronto weather. The bedding seemed old and worn, and the beds gave both of us horrible back aches - but, I guess you get what you pay for. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for budget savy travelers who want to be close to good shopping.

Very good location especially for the price. Very clean but rooms were small, although had sink, stove, microwave & small fridge. Finishes were of very low quality. Requires a deposit for many standard features such as iron, coffee maker, alarm clock, etc. Not for everyone but if you need a place to crash and won't spend much time there pretty good. No hotel amenities so don't expect to lounge in the lobby or at the pool. Located in a residential area close to exciting Queen St. W. near Bathurst.

For the price in the downtown area of Toronto, this hotel can't be beat. All rooms include one queen and one twin bed, and a minimally equipped mini-kitchen in the same room (very handy for breakfast). Parking is only $3.50/night extra...this is a real steal! The hotel appears to be a converted apartment building...basically all units are studio apartments. They are furnished simply (early arborite and chrome), and are clean and comfortable. The location is very central, but yet quiet. Unlike either of the "centrally located" Days Inns, no nasty smells. And we felt safe. The bed was comfortable, the AC was pre-set, but not quite cool enough for our liking...instead, we just left the window open. I'm not convinced I would be as happy if we were in the middle of a heat wave. Washers, dryers, and irons are available on each floor. If you want a clock radio or hair dryer there is a $10 deposit. We normally travel with our "tools", so this was not an issue for us. So it's all about compromise...for $95/night, we will definitely return.

Das Hotel Alexandra befindet sich inmitten des Zentrums von Toronto. 2 Minuten zu Fuss zur Queen St. Zu Fuss ist man in 30 min am Hafen. Man ist auch sehr nah zum CN Tower und somit auch zum Rogers Centre. Das Zimmer war überraschend sauber (das Gebäude sieht von aussen etwas älter aus) und für Leute, die einfach eine Nacht in Toronto verbringen wollen, ist das eine günstige und saubere Variante. Ebenfalls von Vorteil ist das hausinterne Netzwerk - mit einem RJ-45 Netzwerkkabel kann man sich mit schnellem Internet verbinden (kostenlos).
