The Edelweiss was wonderful. We stayed here for four nights for business and pleasure. The hotel is just around the corner from Lac Leman and a great lakeside bar that was always busy of an evening after work lots of people on the grass verges
I was expecting a smell of cheese from previous reviews but not a hint and I really am fussy about smells.
The staff could not be faulted, helpful and polite, everyone of them.
Lots of places to eat nearby loved the breakfast pastires and coffee at Migros

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Edelweiss for 2 nights at the end of June 2008. The hotel is fab in an over-the-top swiss kind of way. Its full of all the things you think of when you think of Switzerland (St Bernards toy dogs, chaket style woodwork etc etc). A lovely little touch was the complimentary Toblerone for your room!
Gettgin there from the airport is easy, just get your FREE TRAVELPASS from the baggage claim area of the airport (which allows you free travel for 80 mins), hop on any train (they all stop at Geneva's main station first) and the hotel is only a 5 min walk away. When you check in you get a travel cardwhich allows you to travel for FREE on all of the buses, trams and boats in Geneva - fantastic. Well worth a visit!!

I chose the Edelweiss because it looked like it would be pretty family friendly, because I was traveling with my 5 year old daughter as well as my dad and a friend. My daughter and I shared a double room which was quite large and had more storage than my bedroom at home! (two large closets plus two large towers of shelves)
The most notable thing about the hotel is definately the staff. There was a problem with our reservation at check-in but they took care of it quickly and with no argument. The whole process took no longer than an ordinary check-in. They made dinner reservations, gave directions and maps, handed us extra towels without just saying "oh, housekeeping will deliver them later," and were always smiling. When one person in our group got sick and needed a doctor, they called one who spoke English and paid the doctor, letting us put the charge on our bill.
We could walk to everything we wanted, or at least to the bus stop which was a few blocks away.

My wife and I stayed for one night and found the hotel perfectly satisfactory for our purpose. The room was beautifully clean and modern although fairly small. the reception staff were helpful and there was only the faintest whiff of fondue of which we had been warned by previous reviews.
