I stayed at Breezes Mobay July 5th for 2 nights. It was just OK. I obtained the room for a great price thru a travel auction site so I paid probably half of the going rate. The property is very old, outdated and small. However, my "cabin" room was decent. It was clean and comfortable although VERY small and walls were thin. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Food was good. Repetitive but filling (If you don't like Jamaican food, stay away). There is only one small buffet style restaurant on site and one other (italian) restaurant that is open certain days. I didn't try out the Italian restaurant. There is only one bar also (by the pool) other than the bars in the nightclub. The entertainment thru out the day and night was excellent....very creative and fun. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I got a extremely low rate (say less than $120 per nt) otherwise, No way, it's not worth it. Compared to American standards, It's like an all inclusive Red Roof or Days Inn. However, if you get a good rate and you want a cheap all inclusive with all you can eat and drink (and don't really care about the cosmetics) than go for it. Oh yeah, the beach was beautiful and relaxing, the watersports team were awesome and the nightclub was almost emply but nice club, good music and good drinks..just no customers.

Great getaway at Breezes, Montego Bay, Jamaica

I read a number of reviews after we made reservations to stay at Breezes in Montego Bay. Although, the reviews were mixed with positive and negative feedback- you really have to judge for yourself. I went with my girlfriend and we visited from July 15-19th.
Upon arriving to the hotel, we were greeted with champagne and wet clothes. The hotel clerk escorted us to the lobby to check us in. She gave us a packet containing the hotel activities and information on the restaurants on site, room accommodations, and watersports/tours activity. This was very helpful. Fortunately, our oceanview room was ready but as we walked into our room (#202) I noticed two things almost immediately: 1) 2 small twin beds and 2) the view of the pool (and not the ocean). I immediately said something to our bellhop, Leroy. We had expected to have two queen beds. He was very nice and patient. He told us that there are no oceanview rooms with double queen beds and that is on their website. We booked through a travel agent so we really could not dispute it. We decided to just go with it since we came with the mind set of "accepting things as they are" and to have fun. (But I made a mental note to bring the matter up with the view upon checking out).
The hotel is off one of the main roads in Montego Bay so it is convenient to local shops, clubs, and restaurants. The hotel has its' own pool and a section of Doctor's Cave Beach. A number of tourists from other hotels and local natives also come to the beach, I believe the tourists are charged but natives can come for free. Single ladies, the natives are really friendly and a bit flirtatious. But if you tell them that you are not interested, they will leave you alone. At times, it bothered my girlfriend but it did not bother me one bit...the more the merrier!
The food at the buffet for breakfast was good. Lunch was hit and miss. The food at the poolside grill was good. The guys at the bar were really nice, specially Delane. All of the staff were pretty friendly and helpful. Pastafari restaurant was really good- we ate their twice. It is by reservation only. I read another review that you had to call early in the morning to make reservations but we called late morning/early afternoon and were able to make reservations.
The hotel activities were alright. There was nightly entertainment at the poolside. The Buffet has dining at the pool. We girlfriend won one of the contest- Dancehall Queen. They also had a guy from Africa that did fire show, which was good. The hotel also offers parasailing, glass bottom boat ride, and snorkeling. We did snorkeling and the glass bottom boat ride. The ride is offered twice in the morning and the ride lasts about 35 mins. We did not do any tours or rides outside of the hotel.
We spent alot of time on the beach, which was really nice. We also went to Jimmy Buffet's Margartsville, which is within walking distance from the hotel. We had a blast there. We also went to the Reggae Sumfest on Thursday night. We purchased VIP tickets for all 3 nights at the airport although we were leaving on Saturday and would miss the show. They did not sale VIP tickets by the day like General Admission tickets.
The Reggae Sumfest was fun, exciting, tiring, and exhausting- all at the same time. We made the mistake of getting there at 7:30pm, before the gates opened, and staying until it ended, which was at 5:45am. We made sure to pack the essentials which were lounge chairs, picnic blanket, snacks, flashlight, extra pair of walking shoes, and a light jacket. Items that we should have also brought with us were: wetnaps, water, bug off spray, and a small wash cloth.
At the beginning of the concert, it was not so bad because it was not crowded but as the night progressed the VIP section filled up. We started out with having both chairs and the picnic blanket spread out...by the end of the night it was just the two chairs. It was not jammed packed- you had room to dance and move around. The performers were great- the early performers performed for 10-15 mins. each and only a few minutes between performances for breakdown and setup. But the well known performers performed a little longer and the time between each act varied from a few minutes to 30 mins. There were a few breaks between the show, which were 15-20 mins. The rest rooms were nearby and food vendors were located in the back of the stage for the VIP tickets holders and also other vendors were located in the general area.
After a few hours at the show, we began feeling really hot and tired. So my girlfriend took a few naps during the night and I managed to sneek a short 10 min. power nap myself. By the end of the show, it was dawn. I did not care for the exiting of the groundsite. People were everywhere and no systematic order for exiting the areas.
But once we finally got out, we were able to easily catch a cab back to the hotel. (Be careful with what the cab drivers try and charge you. We worked out a deal with the driver to take us from Breezes and drop us back off for $10/each way for the both of us. Although, we could not find our driver that droppef us off when we got out, we were able to talk another driver down from $20 to $10) The also had shuttle picking up and dropping off at the hotel for $15/each person and each way.
We went to a few gift shops to buy some souveneirs before we left and we also talked them down on prices. I did not buy much but my girlfriend purchase white gold jewelry from a duty free shop, at 50-60% below the prices in the U.S. She is going to get it appraised- the verdict is out on this one.
Upon checking out, I mentioned the issue with the our room view and Jackie, the front manager, gave us a one night voucher along with a gift bag- 2 Appleton Rum and 2 Breezes T-shirts.
All in all, we had a great time and would go back to Breezes because of the location, and value vs price.
I suggest you go with an open mind and NO expectations and with the sole intent of having a good/relaxing/fun time.
I hope you have a great trip as we did!
Better off to stay home

If you are planning a trip and this is your only option - stay home.
After a recent stay of 5 nights, I was left with so many disappointments that I would have been better off to stay home.
The rooms were not updated other than the bedspread and the curtains. Other than that, the furniture needs to be updated as we had drawers that didn't open or close and were all nicked up.
The bathroom was in need of cleaning and the vanity was in need of new hinges so the door didn't just hang crooked.
The shower didn't work, there was no plug for the drain and we had to beg to get extra towels. A good power washer with some bleach should have been takend to the entire bathroom.
As far as cleanliness of the tile floor in the room, they must have used the same bucket of dirty water each day because you couldn't walk on the tile without getting your feet dirty.
The room had a terrible musty smell in it that was unidentifiable and when we opened the patio door to get fresh air, the maid promptyly closed it and told us that we could not have it open with the air conditioning on.
The outdoor hallways to each room look as though they haven't been cleaned since the last rainfall.
As far as food, it was reduntant and a good McDonalds would have seemed like a gourmet meal.
The people for the most part who worked there left their smiles at home and we felt like we were really bothering them when we asked questions or complained. Believe me, if you don't get your towel card - don't ask them for another one because they are worth the price of gold and you won't get one.
This place might be ok for the old college spring break days but if you are truly looking for a place that you want to relax and expect some pampering - go to the Motel 6 you would have a better time.
The place should not have superclub status and we way overpaid for the entire stay. I would have demanded a refund but since I didn't want to just waste words, I decided to make sure I wrote a review to spare others. I would still like to see a credit for most of the nights we had there since we had 2 rooms we really overpaid.
After visiting with several other couples that were there they too were disappointed and question whether they will return to Jamaica a place that truly is beautiful and left us with bad opinions.
Oh yes and remember this is located on the public beach so you have rift raft coming in and bothering you on a regular basis. You feel them lurking all around and even when you sitting at the outdoor bar, they are peeking over the walls.

Very small resort. The front desk manager was fabulous, she knew everyone. The suites and beach were decent. The pool area was very tiny. There was someone on the pool microphone all day long L. The drinks and food were fine, nothing special.

No Love from Breezes Montego Bay

My biggest disappointment was the staff. When you are on vacation you tend to look at the staff to be willing to help you with anything you need. It's supposed to be your home away from home for a short period of time. Well...in all honesty all of them acted as if you were interrupting their leisure time. I complained the room was dirty & received a very nasty call from the maid asking me to "show her" where it was dirty at 9 am the next morning! I didn't know I was required to wake up very early, get dressed & show the disgusting tissues stuck on the wall. It was obvious they had no finese in handling the issue.
The buffet food was terrible, I ate fruit all day long because it was the safest looking dish. The grill by the pool was very good. The restaurant "Pastafari" was terrible. Think of cafeteria food with nice decor. If only you could eat the atmosphere then I would say it was decent. Oh if only napkins were edible.
The watersport staff were absolutely heinous. I stood at the towel hut to ask for towels & got shot an "Excuseee me?!" from one of the female staffers. "NO! You can't have one unless you have a card". Well it would have been nice if I received one when I checked in but they forgot to do that as well. I asked to do numerous water activities and the staff looked bothered to be asked to put down their beer & get off their butts. Remember anytime you have someone visit you from outside the resort you need to pay a deposit for their musky, rough, blue towel $15 pp as well as to purchase a guest pass for the day & night.
Part of Jamaica's slogan is "One Love" but I got absolutely NO love from Breezes Mo'Bay.
