The hotel is a two star, smack in the center of beautiful Madrid for a cost of 100 - 130$ a night... cant expect luxury! For tourists travelling to Madrid for a few nights only I definatly recommend for its location ! You cant get lost it is the central point of Madrid! Very good when you come back from a late spanish night. Reception was ok.. rooms were ok... Noise was BAD, Beds were BAD. A week no thx .. 2-3nights to have a little stop in Madrid : Definately

I found this hotel using Kayak.com, and made the reservation thru a third party website. The reservation stated a "double room, double bed". When I arrived, they gave me a room so small, and the bed was barely as wide as my shoulders. I went back to the front desk and said there was a mistake. The manager told me that was all that was available, so I could take it or leave... i left and went to the Hotel Victoria, 2 blocks away.
From what I saw, the room was worn, dirty, and unkept. I wouldn't have stayed if if the double room was available.
Be prepared for a headache if you book here!

We chose Asturias for its location, and were not disappointed. We asked for quiet rooms, and were given adjacent rooms at the end of a corridor on the third floor. They looked out onto a side street, and it was quiet enough for the poor sleeper in the group not to complain even with the shutters open. I don't know how it would be in summer with both the windows and the shutters open, but it was a reasonable place to stay. We had two rooms, and one bathroom was spacious, but both had room for a bath.
The breakfast wasn't good value, though. We tried it on the last day and thought it very mediocre. They brought lots of coffee and hot chocolate, but the pastries were dull, the bread rolls had the usual Spanish rock hard exteriors, and the cold meat and processed cheese were brought on the same plate, which, as vegetarians, we rejected.
My only quibble was the complete lack of interest from the reception staff in the guests. They hardly ever even made eye contact, so although they did their jobs, they didn't go out of their way to be friendly or welcoming in any way.

Yes I know it's cheap, but the place is not just tired, it's exhausted! I also agree with others comments about the poor breakfasts and staff lack of interest.
The first room I had was damp and next to the lift shaft so not only do you hear every footfall, every door bang but all the traffic from the lift.
They very willingly changed my room to a "quiet" room at the back but this has almost no natural light and was next to an adjacent buildings faulty aircon and over the delivery bay and smelled of toilet drains.
The worst thing though was that there were about 4 large groups of children staying who were left literally unsupervised at night, (the teachers went out for hours!) and in their bored state, they resorted to randomly banging on doors and telephoning rooms til after midnight.
The reception staff were totally disinterested in other guests welfare and seemed at a loss to know what to do, although I was told there are regularly up to 200 kids staying there this time of year.
So if you don't mind noise, smells and rude kids, this might be worth the cheapness.
