I was worried when I read some of the previous reviews on this hotel and was expecting faulty towers. I had booked for new year with my mum and little boy, I knew it wasnt a five star hotel but was definetely expecting the worse after some of the comments I had read. Well all I can say is that myself my mum and little boy had a fabuous time and wouldnt hesitate to book this hotel again. It is a huge hotel however this did not stop the staff going out of their way to help in anyway they could, they were both courteous and friendly. The New year festivities were superb the dining room was decorated beautifully and I thought the food was superb considering they were catering for so many. Apart from one group I thought the entertainment was fantastic especially the in house team who were excellent. The atmosphere on New years eve was superb as again was the food, service and entertainment overall a wonderful night. We were on a table with five other guests who also contributed to a wonderful break. The hotel has a superb swimming pool and beauty facilities and an enjoyable gymnasium. Overall I thought it was a wonderful place granted a little bit tired in places but this is to be expected due to the sheer size and age of the place. I would not hesitate to return here and would gladly recommend the place to friends. So please do not believe all of the negative things that has been written and give it a go for yourself.

I recently stayed in the Norbreck Castle for 3 nights and can safely say this was the worst hotel experience I have had for a very long time. I do a fair amount of travelling and stay in all types of accomodation - even hostels I have stayed in are better equipped, cleaner and more organised than the Norbreck.
I had read bad reviews of the Norbreck before, but unfortunately I was at a conference in the hotel - even if you have this commitment - make sure your accomodation is elsewhere - there are better places in Blackpool.
I won't list all the things that were wrong with this hotel as will take up too much room, but key highlights include:
1. The food was awful - it advertised a 'premier' restaurant but it was no better than airplane food with a selection of one type of red wine on offer!
2. The rooms are like cardboard - you can hear everything (and I mean everything!) that is happening either side of you, above and below you - this includes all the entertainment up to 2.30 am
3. The overall condition of the hotel is very poor - it looks and feels like it hasn't been updated since the 1970s and has a peculiar musty smell throughout the hotel
4. The staff look totally miserable at having to work in this relic and could not help us with directions, restaurants in the area etc - in fact there was no information included in the room (even internal hotel numbers) and they offered takeaway menus as a solution to restaurant opening hours
You can have a great experience in Blackpool itself but not if you stay here!

Booked in for Christmas break OH DEAR
Room was no too bad but had a large set of bunk beds in it looked like a cell
Bar service pretty good
Cleanliness good
NOW FOR THE HORROR STORY
We were informed the meals would be served in the Norcolympia
another name for hangar one at JLA.
First breakfast unbelievably bad (cardboard sausages) informed the chef could not cook fried eggs as there were too many people staying (900)
Christmas dinner had a choice of menus
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT
After complaining i was able to get some beef as I dont eat turkey although I was told the chef was livid with me OH DEAR
All in all the food was very poor although the service was ok
The entertainment was very good but the sound system was garbage and any announcements had to be guessed at
Summing it all up
DONT GO ITS TOO BIG !! AND THEY CANT COPE WITH A FULL HOTEL

Myself hubby and 2 kids stayed for 3 nights at the end of December. There are good and bad things about this hotel.
Food - Breakfast was lovely, plenty of it. Dinner not so good. You have to queue and it's self service.
Rooms - We got a good sized room, fairly old fashioned. No heating in the bathroom which was freezing.
Staff - Mostly friendly and helpful
Hotel - Fairly old fashioned, but clean.
Entertainment - This was the best thing. Anything that can keep 2 hypo boys sitting down for longer than 2 seconds has to be good. They loved it. Magician was amazing, in-house group had theme nights and they were excellent.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves which is the main thing.
