We booked through priceline and paid another $60 for an upgrade. We needed two beds and priceline only guarantees one double bed. But still the room rate was reasonable for New York. This location was perfect. The subway was right outside the door of hotel. Carnegie deli across street. Everything within walking distance. The hotel has a definite European feel to it. It is not a hilton or sheration but it is clean and nice for a stay in New York.

Oh my god I read reviews beforehand about the decor etc.....but seriously you are in New York...the city that never sleeps who cares.
Its a cheap, clean hotel in a amazing location (between times square and central park) what more do you need....it was a place to dump our luggage and get a couple of hours kip between all the sightseeing, shopping and drinking; couldnt ask for anything more and would defo go back to this hotel.

we have just had a wonderful long weekend in the wellington. We have stayed there once before, so we knew it was ok.the staff are always friendly and helpful. the room we had was superb, on the 23 rd floor, with great views of central park to our right and up 7th avenue to times square to our left, not telling you the room number though because we want that room when we go back. on the first morning we went to go into the restaurant for some breakfast but it was very busy so we went elsewhere, that was a mistake.the second morning we went down and although it was very busy we waited and soon got a table. the breakfast was great.had an evening meal there aswell and that was great aswell.would recomend the wellington to anyone, we will definately stay there when we go back.

Stayed at the Wellington from 7/1/08-7/4/08 with my 11 & 16 year old daughters. Location perfect. Steps away from Times Square, Rockerfeller Center, and Central Park. Subway stop right outside the door. Deli across the street for my morning java was very cheap. We got a great deal through Priceline.com, $120 a night, so I feel I have no room to complain. But, if you didn't get a good deal, I feel you should know that although there are bellman everywhere, and the staff downstairs was nice, the room on the other hand was o.k. Thank goodness, they were very accomadating and upgraded our bedding to a king size, as the three of us were sharing a bed. The room was clean, and cleaned and freshened daily, but it was very old, if not to say creepy! Plus, there was no ice bucket, and no ice to be found on any floor. No soda machines either. Elevators slow. Room warm, even though we had the air conditioning cranked down. So, if you get a good deal, go with it, we were only in the room to sleep and shower, location great, room size above nyc average, but if you pay a bit more, you may want to seek elsewhere.
