Wow.... seriously.
A collegue and I are scheduled to be in Ottawa for one night, requiring two rooms. We book two rooms for a Wednesday. On Monday, I call and extend the stay to two nights on one of the rooms.
I also asked since this was booked on my collegues credit card and I was arriving a night before him if I needed to bring his card, or do anything else in order to check in since I would NOT have his credit card with me. They said no.
Upon arriving however, I was told they needed a credit card. Then, they told me they cancelled the reservation for the second night with no explanation. Telling me if I wanted a second night I would have to take a smoking room. This of course is not what I booked, but did not seem to matter as they had already sold the room that I had reserved, and there was nothing they were going to do about it.
I was forced to pay for my room with cash, they told me I could have a refund the next day when my collegue arrived to move the payment to his credit card. Of course, when this happened I was then told (by the same person as before) that he couldn't do a refund, and that they would have to mail it to me.
Not only was all of this lousy, but they charged me more for the room on the second night than on the first, and then booked my collegue to the smoking room. No apology, or discount, or anything.
I also didn't get my points, not that I will ever sleep at a travel lodge again, anyway....
An early reviewer talked about the tired look of all of the furniture, and the rooms, I can attest to that. My room was tired, and musty smelling. What comes off as a quaint inn in the photos is really not what you actually get.
Lastly, the 'continental' breakfast. I will preface my case as saying I hate all continental breakfasts, but this one was particularly bad The coffee was cold, the orange juice was warm, and they crammed multiple pieces of mismatched bread, obviously from different loaves into a drawer for the guests to eat the next morning. One of the cereal dispensers was also empty for both days I was there....
This was a truly horrible experience. Business travel can be hard enough, but when the hotel is this bad, it really puts a strong emphasis on this.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially at this price point. If I had to put an actual value on the service it would be closer to 60/night... not the nearly 150 I paid.

Please don't be fooled by the nice pictures on the internet!
I'll go straight to the point why I don't like it:
1. Room so small and smells like something decade
2. no elevator so if you are unlucky like me, you'll have to drag your luggage to the 3rd floor.
3. air conditioner old and loud.
4. Sheet look dirty!!! and smells too!
5. your friend want to call you? good luck listening to the loooong message, and many many tries before they can get someone to transfer! And the "serveice" to activate so they can call you by dialing your room number? not exist!
6....
In short, DONT stay here, EVER!!!!
Very good staff

We've stood at this hotel for 3 days. The bedroom was small but okay. The location is very good, at walking distances from tourists places. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had two problems: although the "don't disturb" was on the door, the housekeeper tried to enter our room... and on the other day, someone nocked our door offering coffee and there wasn't housekeeping service.

I booked a stay here with two friends a few years ago looking at photos on the internet that made it look much better than it is in real life. The layout in the building was awkward, and the furniture was tired and unattractive, definitely in need of refurbishing. One bed that we tried to move away from the wall was stuck to the floor. Staff was unhelpful when we had an issue. Manager refused come to the front desk when we asked for him. Breakfast was awful: white bread toast! I understand that the Doral Inn is now a TraveLodge so perhaps things have improved. But if they have left things as they were when we stayed there, I would stay anywhere in Ottawa but the Doral Inn. It is the worst hotel experience I have had in all my travels anywhere.

Boy the pictures sure look nice, but I don't know where they were taken. Our room was tiny, but reasonably clean. There was a terrible slope in the floor and the foot of the bed was higher than the head of the bed. If you sat on the toilet you slid off. The parking was very tiny and you have to leave your key at the front desk in case they have to move your car as everyone has to cram into such a small area. We have stayed in much nicer places for similar prices in other cities. Was adequate for the one night we stayed, but will probably not go back.
