I had the opportunity to stay at the Best Western South in Feb. 2008. While it was not the Ritz, it was clean and quiet. Finding quality in Abilene can be tricky, and this trip was no different. Since this was a last minute excursion, all of my usual hotels were full on the north side, close to Hardin-Simmons University. The great part of Abilene is that nothing is more than 15 minutes away! With this in mind, I decided it wasn't too far to stay on the south side. I was quoted a great rate by calling the hotel directly. The staff was extremely friendly, and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast consisted of the normal quick food, but all was fresh and edible. Like I said, it isn't the Ritz (I do love the Ritz), but as a very "hard-to-please" clean freak, this hotel offered me all I needed. Plus, the pizza restaurant across the parking lot was terrific!!!!!! I will definitely stay here in the future!

Very clean hotel, appears to be well maintained. Fresh breakfast items. Staff very helpful with problems. Our laptop did not have wireless capability, they had a cable available for our use to connect to wall port. Numerous ammenities (Target,movie theatre, several eateries) located adjacently....within steps! Mall was visible and accessible by short drive. Great place, highly recommend.

Decent hotel. Insulting policy requires you to check three lines on the registration form -- certifying that you understand the pet, smoking and check-out policies and the penalties for violating them. I have never, ever had to check and sign such acknowledgments before. The ugly signs posted on the registration desk were more than sufficient instruction. This is just a growing indication of American business viewing all customers as cheats and idiots. I have complained online to Best Western.

Do not stay at the motel, especially if you have children!! We booked online and asked for a crib for our small child, we even called the hotel to make sure that they had one. The person working the front desk told me that they would have it set up in our room before we got there. When we came to check in the staff was very very rude and acting like they were in a rush to get us out of there, then they told me that there was no crib for our child and they do not even carry cribs. When I asked why they told me they would have one set up the front desk clerk looked and me and said "Look mam we dont have a crib so i just dont know what to tell you allright!" I found the staff to be rude and nasty. When we got to the room they were so small that it was hard to even walk around to get to the bathroom. The cords from all of the lamps were just laying around the room, we had to go in and plug in the lamps ourselves. The room had a very old smell to it. We paid nearly 90 bucks for a room and I ended up having to sleep on the floor with my daughter. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. I would never stay at this hotel again it is way too over priced for what you get. I recommend everyone go to the fairfield because you can get a bigger room for the same price, plus you get a couch and a great staff! Please people do not stay at this best western especially if you have kids!!!!

very good location, close to mall, restaurants, movie theaters. large rooms , internet access. perfect for business travel.
