I stayed in this hotel in June 2005 for a week when I was on business. Very nice overall. I ordered room service almost every night for dinner, and it was so delicious! The lobster on the room service menu was great, I highly recommend it! The pool was good for sunbathing too, and the walk from your hotel room to the pool felt more like you were walking through a mini palace that you were staying in temporarily. The hotel lobby and entrance was enormous and very elegant. The lobby comes across more like an entrance to a mini palace, and definitely gives a very good first impression. The overall atmosphere was very calm. The Chinese restaurant in the basement was good, although I’ve had better. The only minor problem was that when I phoned room service to take my table away outside, it was still there for the next hour and was only taken away when I phoned them the second time.

The Old Queen of Hyderabad

I've been to the Taj twice, and stayed for 9 days and 15 days respectively. Taj is an elegant hotel of yesteryear - the decor is older not the trendy "W" style decor. The hotel is also older and is beginning to show it's age. The rooms are nice, but only if you're on one of the "Taj Club" floors - if you're not, then the rooms are below average. I've been told by other colleagues that the service at the Taj Krishna is the best in Hyderabad, but I'm suspect of that comment. Yes, the service is very good, but not something I would rave about. The food at the Taj is good with a good variety for any picky eater. The bar in the lobby is also a good spot - the bartenders are nice and quick to serve - plus they have Cuban cigars there!! The pool area is also nice, but it's old and you can tell once you get there. The gym is adequate, but not great - only four treadmills! Plus it's packed fairly quickly. If you're going to Hyderabad for pleasure, perhaps the Taj Krishna would be a hotel suited for you since it's central to everything. If you're going for business (i.e. HiTec City) you have consider another hotel. I depart for Hyderabad again in August and will be staying at the Novotel Hotel.

great place to stay if you can burn money. Since food and wine were 3-5 times the rate we had paid during our three weeks South India trip and the restaurant staff still gave the impression that we were cheap class tourists for selecting an 75 euro Indian wine , rather than a more than 100 euro French wine the next day we escaped to a nice restauarant one block away

This is a great hotel with excellent rooms. The bar here is fantastic, but very expensive with questionable Pinot Grigio.
The gym is fairly basic but they have a good barber who is cheap and professional.
The restaurant is excellent and good value for money.

We led a work delegation of 20 people in April - however instead of receiving good service due to us bringing them a lot of business at once, the reception staff were always rude when I went to change and comment on anything. Whenever it suited them they would claim to "not understand much English" but at other times they spoke perfect English.
The staff at the restaurants were very helpful to the point where we overwhelmed by their support, however the rest of hte hotel staff need to take tips from the restaurant staff.
Overall I will not be staying there again.
