We stayed at the Gateway from 21st Jan-24th Jan 2008. The hotel is nice & situated away from the busy shops of Surat. The service from the hotel was good. Good check in & friendly assistance. The porter's handling the bag's were really helpful & I can say it wasn't for a Tip. Some refused a Tip saying that it was their Duty! This shocked & impressed me! We took the Triple Share option, But I don't think that the Taj Gateway should offer this. The room was small & honestly couldn't accommodate 3 people comfortably. It is ideal for 2people. The problem when we stayed & probably still now is the construction going on. We would hear knocking & banging noises coming from our floor @ 11pm. Our room was next to the construction area. We called & complained to reception & each time they told the contruction workers to stop! Thankfully. But I think that they should of rather moved everyone from that side of the hotel, if they knew they were going to be busy at odd times. Funny enough we found a Bouquet of flowers in our room the next day- We think it was because we complained about the noise the previous night - It was a nice gesture! Breakfast's were good. The in room dining & restaurants were up to standard. I enjoyed the food. The overall experience was good & I would suggest anyone to try it out.
