Compared to other hotels in Bangalore such as the Oberoi, this is definitely a notch lower, but offers all the amenities you need from a business hotel. There is currently (June 2008) renovation going on on the 3rd and 4th floor, but you could barely hear it even on the 2nd floor that I stayed on.
The room was very clean, nice big bathroom with walk-in shower and fantastic shower head, big and comfy bed, flat screen TV and internet connection (wireless and LAN cable available).
Room service was quick and the lamm curry I picked excellent.
I picked the hotel due to its very central location (upper half of Residency road, close to MG road and Brigade road) - if you want to do some basic shopping you do not have to rely on a hotel driver or the annoying tuk-tuks, which never bring you where you want to go (at least when you are obviously a foreigner). There are two decent malls in walking distance (less than 500m) to get clothes, shoes, jewellery etc.
I asked the hotel to send a driver to pick me up at the airport by mail, I called to confirm but they had already arranged for that. The driver was on time and quite cautious, the hotel charged 2700 INR for this.
All in all, decent business hotel worth a stay unless you really need a spa or want to impress your client/travel partner.

I have mixed opinions about this hotel. It is a Taj Group Hotel but doesnt even come near the Taj Residency and Taj West End in terms of class. So beware of that. However, it is sometimes around 35% cheaper than the other Tajs and is in a good part of the city. Please stay here only if the savings are significant.
Otherwise its not too bad. Its a decent hotel with nice clean rooms. Once a colleague of mine had to wait till 1.00 AM to get into his room as the person staying there had taken ill and was unable to checkout. I was somehow not too convinced by the reason given.
This hotel has two restaurants. One south Indian nice restaurant behind the hotel and a north Indian average restaurant. There's a decent English pub (Not very English if you ask me) just outside. So your taste buds dont have many options.

I recently stayed at the Gateway Hotel for only one night, and was not able to sleep at all. The hotel is under construction, and although they indicate that the construction stops at 7pm, it didn't. The hammering in the room and floor below me continued till 3am. When I addressed this to the duty manager, he had no comments.
I also had breakfast, and the buffet was cold. They had forgotten to light the the warmers, so all the hot food was cold. Overall my experience was one of the worst I have had in India. I would caution anyone from staying at this hotel.
