Impressive. I've tried both old and refurbished rooms. In the old one I disliked the fact that the air conditioning was blowing through the wardrobe and my clothes were frozen in the morning but the room was looking great. The new one has all the confort you need, including DVD with surround, wireless internet, huge bed, nice treats. Breakfast is excellent, plenty of freash fruits aso. Staff is overwhelming. Pool was never used during my stay but looks great.

I have stayed at a range of hotels in India, from the Taj hotels to chains (including the JW Marriott in Mumbai). If you want the best India has to offer, and to feel like you are truly in India, this is the hotel. The staff is fun, friendly, helpful, and courteous, the amenities are impeccable - pool, fitness area, and bar, and the restaurants are excellent. If you are staying in India, I don't think you can't go wrong at a Taj hotel; if you are staying in Chennai, this is one of the best hotels the Taj has to offer. For a business dinner at the Southern Spice, I was there with another American and our Indian colleague. The waiter asked us our likes and dislikes, then asked if we would leave the selections to him. His choices and the quality of the food even amazed our colleague. To top it all off, we then had our fortunes told by a parrot. I need to find more reasons to go to Chennai, because I have found the perfect place to stay.

A typical Taj so you get what you expect, which for the wiery business traveller is all you need. A good bed, clean rooms, easy internet and BBC World. Ticks all the boxes.
Tip: take a brief excursion for dinner at Fishermans Cove - its well worth it!!

I had been travelling around India on business. I flew down from the north to Chennai and walked into the splended reception area of the Taj Coromandel Hotel. I had my luggage taken to my newly decorated room and settled in for my 3 nights stay... simply bliss. By far... the best hotel I've ever stayed in including some of the larger Taj hotels in New Delhi. I cannot say I had one bad experence the whole time I stayed here. The Tai Coromandel served the BEST breakfast I have ever had in India, the reception staff were excelent and even the door staff went beyond the call of duty by arranging a driver to take me to a mobile phone shop to fix my cell phone. The hotel's bar was great fun too, especially the night India WON the world cricket. I could go on and on about this hotel... but I won't. Read no more...

This should be called the sorry hotel because staff do nothing but apologise for the hotel . The pool was closed and estimates when it would open varied , I t was impossible to work or concentrate on a book there bwetween the hours of 7am and 7 pm as you could not hear your self think because of the construction work, even on weekends .I chose to stay elsewhere , wi fi frequently down etc etc . Having stayed in Las Vegas I was used to tipping , but here they will follow you round waiting for an opportunity to earn a tip .
Don't be lured by the cheap price there is a reason and sleep may not be possible as the air India flight crews party till dawn .
