1) The Taj President Mumbai is located 33 Kms or a 1.5 hour drive away from the airport.
2) The hotel is located in one of the poshest addresses of South Mumbai known as Cuffe Parade and very is close to the heart of Mumbais commercial district - Nariman Point which is a 10 mins drive away. The World Trade Centre and the shopping and entertainment areas of Colaba are all situated within a short 5 -10 mins drive from the hotel.
3) This 5 star deluxe hotel is the nerve centre of some of Mumbais iconic and award-winning restaurants which feature a range of cuisines from Thai, Continental, Coastal Indian cuisine, Italian. I have stayed here before a few years ago &, since then, some parts have been renovated. It is now great. Reception was amongst the best I have exprienced. Fast, efficient & I was genuinely treated as a person, not a walking Visa card! The receptionist recalled my history & chatted to me while checking me in (& upgrading me). The room was more than adequate, fairly spacious, with all the facilities needed (Good TV, lots of channels, Internet, soft bed & shower with monstrous shower head, plenty of bottled water and so on). Breakfast is great - good seleciton & very attentive service. All in all - everyone worked hard to make my stay pleasurable.

The Taj President Mumbai was by far and away the best place I have stayed in in India, if not the world. Not only was the staff super kind and hyper attentive to my every single need, they upgraded me from a street view room to a view of the water. To say the view was stunning does not come close to what it really was like! The room was huge, the bed was super comfortable (they even had a pillow menu of the different pillows to choose from) and the atmosphere was nothing short of excellent. I was so lucky as I got a weekend rate of under $200/night. This was an absolute steal considering anything under 200 in Mumbai, especially in Colaba is near impossible to find! So, be on the lookout for weekend rates through their web sight. You'll be thankful you did. I highly recommend this place! Plus, I'd give two big thumbs up to the Taj Group in general. They are so awesome!

Let me preface my review by saying that I wouldn't be as critical of the Taj President if the hotel didn't bill itself as a 5 star property and cost what it does. With that in mind, the lobby was okay, but I would have expected much nicer for a 5 star hotel (carpet a bit worn in places, furniture not that great). There was also no ATM on the premises, which was a considerable inconvenience, and the front desk staff were not overly friendly or welcoming. The room itself was stylish and modernly decorated, but the lighting could have been better. In the hallway there was a built-in luggage rack, but I could barely see the contents of my suitcase given the dim lighting. The bed was also quite uncomfortable (really hard!). One of my colleagues with whom I was traveling stayed at the Taj Palace and Towers, which was much more opulent and luxurious - definitely 5 star. (I'd tried to book there but they were full).

I stayed at this hotel for a week whilst on vacation with my wife and daughter. The room was okay, a bit outdated decor, and the bathroom could have done with a proper scrub. The Thai Restaurant in the foyer should not be missed, and for a quick light take-out meal, the deli/coffee shop is great. The several functions, weddings and occasional movie shoot can be disruptive when the facilities are "blocked-off"to other guests. The front office staff could be thought to be a bit more pleasant. I'm visiting Mumbai in March 08, and note The Taj President rates have increased quite a bit - I'll stay elsewhere SUREN NAIDOO, Westville South Africa
