I just returned from a solo six night stay at the Cape Milner and was more than happy with all aspects of the hotel. It was stylish, beautifully decorated, comfortable, the room was great and had a beautiful, large bathroom and the breakfast, which was included was also wonderful.
Everyone was most friendly and the location is wonderful with views to Table Mountain. I was on business and found that the location was also great for easy walking distance to downtown, to the UCT fine arts campus, to the South African Art Museum, Company Gardens, and even Green Market Square and Bo Kaap, the brightly colored Moslem district. The only thing it is not close to is the Waterfront, but during the week there is a free, reservable shuttle at least one way. The weekends it is taxis only.
I would definitely go back to the Cape Milner if I ever have the chance to visit Cape Town again.

I recently stayed at the Cape Milner Hotel during a 10 day business trip accompanied by my girlfriend. We really cannot say enough good things about our stay.
The hotels' location, being away from the V&A waterfront is actually ideal for exploring Cape Town. Being literally at the foot of Table Mountain we had a fantastic view from our room each morning. The hotel staff arranged our car hire, and there was secure underground parking. Getting to the beautiful Camps Bay and Hout Bay was a very short drive between the mountains.
The hotel itself has a very relaxed atmosphere and we found every member of staff friendly and personable without being overbearing. As has been said in a previous review, the food in the restaurant in the evenings is superb.
Being someone who was concerned about safety during my visit to Cape Town, I felt extremely reassured staying at the Cape Milner. I would advise anyone visiting Cape Town to hire a car though - it makes getting around much easier.
We met friends for drinks and dinner at Cape Grace and the Table Bay, which are both beautiful large hotels, but would not have swapped our stay at the Cape Milner for anywhere else,
