Best Western town ‘n country, Rapid City This hotel in the south of the city, on highway 16 to Mount Rushmore and the black hills, consists of several buildings. It is built on a hillside, so you can go to the door of your room as well on first as on second floor. This is a nice feature if you have a lot of luggage. There is no corridors, you directly park at the room’s door. Rooms on upper floors have balconies. The room itself was a bit smaller than usual BW rooms. Beds were smaller than usually but comfortable. I did not like the plastic-like cover under the sheet, lower matrasses where not covered by a nice sheet. This looks cheap. We got a fridge in the room which either must have been unplugged or did not work full, it was not cooling our drinks. Could not get to the plug-ins behind the big furniture. Microwave and TV is there – over 70 channels. There are nice lamps with brighter light than you often find in motel rooms, I like that. We got a small table and 2 chairs. No extra working desk. Internet connection first was a bit hard to get but after a while it worked, though a bit slow sometimes. There is a built in wardrobe in the room with ironing equipment. The bathroom is small, a nice feature is the real small window you can open. It was clean and looked newly remodeled, everything new and functional. Some features though where not fixed well like the showerhead or the bolt on the room’s door. The room was facing street but due to the very good sound proof balcony doors we were not really disturbed by any traffic noise. Yes - like another reviewer we got a room behind the restaurant and the dumpster was removed in the morning and this made noise for 1 minute or so, but that's not really a problem, is it? You might hear little noise from neighbouring rooms but I have to say it was quiet here and I love that! Thank you to front desk staff who knew my wish for a quiet room and gave us this room! She was a very friendly person and check-in had been quick, as well as checkout the next morning. After all you won’t find any noisy ice-machines close to rooms. They are situated near the pool (heated) and in the lobby. You get a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Unfortunately the breakfast room is very small, just 5 tables, so we did not get a place to sit down. There are a few sofas in the lobby you can use as well but is uncomfortable to eat with a plate on the knees... the variety of food for breakfast was good, even a waffle-maker was there.

I was travelling west on I 80 and needed a room for the night. Best Western had a familiar ring to it so I thought I'd give them a try. I was pleased with my selection. Lobby was inviting, staff was friendly and helpful. Was offered a room at a reasonable rate. Had to listen to someone rant in front of me while in the queue awaiting my room key. they made me wonder if I'd made a good choice or not. I did. Room was clean and quiet. Great continental breakfast and I was on the road again by 7am.
