All in all the accomodations themselves are probably a 2.5 or maybe 3 stars. I was happy with them, but definitely would not pay rack rates.
The place has an old style colonial hacienda feel. It is nothing fancy, but does have a quaint charm to it. The decor is in accordance with local style and materials which I liked. The accomodations are basic. It has cable TV and AC. In our first room the AC was not working properly and so we were promptly moved. Most rooms seem to have a partial view of the ocean. The place is clean. Only place I noticed that wasn't was a corner of the ceiling in the restaurant area bathroom had mildew.
Things i liked were the simple decor, the cleanliness in general, the maid service, the view from our room, the umbrella huts on the beach, and the well kept grounds.
Things I disliked were the jacuzzi jets basically didn't work and it is a small jacuzzi, the place can be a bit loud depending on where you are ( gusts of wind sweep through the corridors and doors bang shut), the hotel's beach area is small but of course beautiful, front desk service was so-so, and not a lot of options for dining right in the vicinity. The walk to town is pleasant in the evenings but can be very hot in the day. Also it is far more than 10 minutes as some people have suggested on this forum, even going at a very quick pace. It is a very safe and beautiful walk along the ocean which I enjoyed, and we did the walk several times. The cab ride is a few usd. The dive shop could be hit and miss depending on who you talked to there, some people were very knowledgable and others gave completely inaccurate information. Also if you dive with them definitely have your own equipment. If you have to do a rental, dive with someone else. Their equipment is in very poor shape and they charge per piece so if you have to rent everything it will cost more than 30 USD. Also one guy told us it was 10 usd per person to rent equipment, he did not tell us that was per item per person so this was surprising at how pricey it was.

We just returned from staying at Casa Del Mar and were disappointed with the location. Upon waking the first morning we looked out to see two huge cruise ships. Not realizing when we booked, there are apparently two ports for cruise ships to come in on. Second the pool is lacking shade. There are no trees or umbrellas to get away from the sun. Besides, the hotel sits above a very busy road so it is really noisy at the pool. The beach at the hotel is hardly worth walking to. The hotel does have its own private beach however you have to pay your own way to get there. The hotel does not provide any transportation even though the hotel had two hotel vans sitting out front. If you stay in a casita, be prepared because there are no dishes or silverware. The only good thing about this hotel is the free internet. The restaurant at the hotel is terrible. Eat next door at Passion. Cute, clean restaurant and very good food. Dive shop across the street stinks.

I spent last week at Casa Del Mar & it was GREAT! This was a girlfriend getaway & it was perfect. This hotel is VERY clean, the staff is great, front desk, waiters, everyone we encountered. They were all extremely helpful & went out of their way to please us. Our pkg included a full breakfast each a.m. which was the best, fresh fruit, cereal, hashbrowns, etc & OMELETS cooked to order. The grounds are very pretty & well manicured. They have happy hour each evening from 5 -6 which was lots of fun around the pool. Their beach area is actually across the street, but they have a crossover that keeps you from dealing with the traffic, which can be somewhat heavy depending how many cruise ships are in. There are several excellent restaurants very close by & also the hotel restaurant itself is very good. I would gladly stay here again, in fact, I hope I can SOON!!!

First, you do not get an ocean view. There are no ocean views. The room was nice and clean. The only reason I will never stay at CDM is the staff at the restaurant. They were very very rude. I’m not the ugly American and I have been to Cozumel since 1979 but will not stay at CDM ever again. We even gave them ? of the fish we caught which was so fresh, well it was only 1 hour old but the next day rude rude rude. This is not Cozumel.
Great place to stay

12 of has stayed at the casa del mar for a scuba trip. The hotel is very clean and very nice. The staff was great. Close to the dive shop. Some of the best dives I have done. Renee was a great divemaster. The food was good. I would go back in a second.
