not the best in the west as they say! paid lots of cash for a bestwestern. say some where close to the beach you will thank me. i was down there for some time. this is not a real resort the room are small no view. the motel just dosnt have much to offer.
The casino is very small and a million old ladys come in on the weekends to play. not that I have a problem with old ladys. i just dont need to a pushing contest to see who gets the slot or not.

I stayed here before, but now was a much more spectacular time. Even though the main attraction is the casino, the restaurant was excellent with international and caribbean fares. The wine list was exceptional an has won the "Award of Excellence" from The Wine Spectator eight years ina row. The service, was excellent. The Veranda Terrace Bar was a nice place to enjoy a cocktail and a cigar that is made by the owner of the hotel. I will definately stay here again. I felt comfortable and everybody made me feel that I was at home. My home in Mayaguez and Puerto Rico is the Mayaguez Resort & Casino.
As for the rooms, they invested over a million (they told me) and it really shows. New bed heads, conforters, shades, furniture and refrigerators. The Room Srvice operates until 3 am. They have wireless internet and altogether the ambiance is very nice. I will always stay here in what the locals call Porta del Sol.

The rooms were drab & uninviting; a long way from "luxury." Prices quoted for accommodations changed with each different individual at the front desk. Food & drinks were overpriced. Lots of hidden fees. Not a place I'd ever return!

Very disappointed. If you're in the area, you're only choices are this and the Hoilday Inn. Will try the Holiday Inn next time. For the money, this room stunk.

The Mayaguez Resort and Casino is very expensive, especially if you aren't interested in the casino or in paying fairly high prices to eat at El Castillo Restaurant. There are lots of facilities--pools, tennis courts, exercise rooms, but no one uses them. They're all gambling and the casino is packed most of the time, even in the off season. The restaurant features a lovely Sunday Brunch buffet and dinner buffets on certain evenings and at breakfast and lunch. The food is good, the rooms are very nice and well-air conditioned. I enjoyed the casino and even won a bit of money off the one-armed bandits, but for the budget-minded or a large family, there are many other lovely hotels in the Mayaguez region of Puerto Rico. I’d like to see if the activities and amenities pick up in the busy season.
