Good Location in a Nice Town

I was there for a wedding and really just needed a place to sleep that was close by the ceremony. The Best Western was clean and comfortable and had the basic amenities that you would expect to find. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room, which is a nice touch. The breakfast in the morning was okay, with breads, cereals, eggs, and waffles. The pool is small but looks clean. The location is the best part of the hotel and you can walk anywhere in town. If I ever return to Beaufort (which I hope to do) I will stay in one of B&B's. Rhett House and Beaufort Inn both looked nice. If you are looking for simple hotel accomodation, this is a fine place to stay. If you want an experience more authentic to the area, go with a local B&B or Inn.

We went to Royal Palm for a wedding and decided to spend a night in Beaufort after. I had done a little reseach on Trip Advisor and saw this hotel. I didn't make a reservation before we left in case we changed our plans. We got to town and stopped at the hotel. They quoted us a rate of $149 per night. I had seen a special rate of $129 for "race fans." I'm not a race fan but am alwaysl willing to save $20! When I asked about the rate the young man at the desk told me I could make a reservation at the computer in the lobby. That's what I did. That seems ridiculous to have to do, but I did it to save $20. They didn't have a room ready for us to check into but told us we could leave our motorcycle there and walk around.
The location is wonderful. You are right across the street from the waterfront , all the restaurants and the park. What a fun place to visit!
The rooms were clean very large and mostly quiet. The continental breakfast was one of the best I've had before. All kinds of things like eggs and breakfast meats. Waffles can be made as well. That's a wonderful thing to have before you take off. The shower and bathroom were fine too. The linens and beds were comfortable.
We'll visit again and stay here again too. There wasn't another hotel within walking distance that we could find. I'll check to be sure, but I'd stay here anytime.

As mentioned in the other reviews, the location is the reason to stay here. It's right on the bay and within walking distance of everything. The staff that we encountered were helpful and friendly, though one desk person was indeed on the phone conducting some business other than a reservation as I waited several minutes to ask him a question. As for our room, it appears that while some effort was made to modernize - nice showerhead, crisp, soft sheets, fridge & micro in room - other elements left little to be desired, such as mildewed grout in the shower, a largely peeling surface on the bathtub, thin walls, and an unsettling loud noise coming from the window whenever the door to the room was opened. Don't miss the chicken salad at the Sea Island Wine & Gourmet shop on Carteret.

Very Pleased

Nice southern appearance right downtown. Very clean, comfortable room with new Thomasville furniture. Great king bed with nice linens and six comfy pillows. Spotless bathroom with every kind of quality grooming supply imaginable. Quiet except for noise from people walking overhead. Very attractive breakfast room with choice of food and attentive attendant. Check in was efficient and friendly.
Tip. Ask for second floor. Do go on the carriage tour.
Roach on pillow for $150+ a night?

The Good: Nice location, good restaurants within walking distance, room size adequate, nice shower head.Woman at desk was nice and helpful when we arrived.
The Bad: We found a roach on a pillow and a bug on bathroom floor. No wireless, just tethered ethernet, no elevator. Unfortunately, if you want to be in the heart of historic Beaufort and not stay in a B&B or "Inn", this may be your only choice.
