This hotel is located about a 3-5 min walk to Copacabana Beach and a 8-10 min walk to Ipanema Beach. Both beaches beautiful but Ipanema is the best one. The reception speak good english and just can not do enough for you. So sweet & so helpful. The breakfast buffet is really nice and offers lots of different stuff and is included free in all room types. The rooms are clean and nice and the housekeeping is quite good. The TV has lots of international and english channels also. The reception always gives the best advice and also have personal drivers to drive you anywhere you want for a set fee. The hotel doesnt face the beach but you are smack in the middle of the 2 most famous beaches in Brazil so the location is good value for your money.
My husband and I thought it was going to be the 2 of us on New Years so we bought expensive non refundable new years eve tickets to another hotel roof top party on copacabana which was really nice but then we had family and friends that ended up coming to meet us and then we were stuck with these tickets and the reception went out of there way for us to sell these tickets so we got our money back and we could celebrate with our family & friends.
The pool & gym on the roof top is not the best but the beach is close by and the reception staff make your visit so nice anyways.
A couple blocks away from the hotel you have not the best area so you should not walk alone at night and take a taxi, but that is the case for all of Rio anyways, where when its night you should take a taxi and the taxi's are so cheap so its better than taking unnecessary risks.
We both would really recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Rio De Janerio and we would definitely stay here again. We never took the time to write a hotel review before but this hotel was so nice that we felt we had to share our experience :)

Funny, I found the front staff to be very un-friendly. Manager tried to give us a room with a concrete wall view. She said it was her favorite room. We did not take her advise and got a nice room on the fifth floor.
The hotel itself is ok. Nice breakfast. But, the pool is tiny and the "fitness" room is just broken down fitness junk.
Sorry to say, but my real problem is that I think it has a reputation for gay and lesbian rude European guests. The thin room walls did not leave much to the imagination.
Also, I was charged the equivalent of $4.50 USD for 3 postal stamps. Is that legal??
PS. Copacabana beach is over.
