Just returned from two weeks and what a fabulous place. Two children and two adults, we were given a large family room with sliding door to seperate children from adults. It was more like two rooms. It was spotless and cleaned and beds made every day. A large tv which showed english films and cartoon network meatn the kids could go in at night whilst we enjoyed a drink at the rama bar from where see could see the door to the room.
The room was right beside the rama pool which was very handy. The area was kept spotless by pool boy and did not find it too difficult to get a lounger every day.
The beach was a ten minute walk, okay going down but hard going returning at night up the hill. We found that if you were not down there by about nine it was difficult to get a lounger in the shade. However if you didn't mind wating till after three, many became vacant and it was not too difficult getting them then. The water was grogeous and warm and snorkelling was fantastic.
I found the food fine. There was three free restaruants and if you do not act as if you have to fill your plate with every kind of food on offer, three times a day, you could easily last the fornight without being bored. For breakfast you could have prorridge, cereals, breads cheese croissants, yhogurts, fruit, toast, pancakes, waffles, ommlettes, and bacon and others. Luch and dinner you could get soups, meats, pasta fish, pizza, salad etc. I do not eat meat and still found the variety to be plentiful. The vast majority of staff were extremely pleasant . We tipped every few days but the problem was when a waiter 'claimed' you as theirs and then another waiter got you when you entreed one night, it could be quite embarrasing. I would suggest taking some english pound coins and tipping who ever serves you that night instead of feeling you have to remain loyal to one particular waiter. I think they would give great service anyway, they were so nice. Two of us got the bug, no idea why the othet wo didn't. It was not peasant, but some people pay a lot of money for colonic irrigation - I am sure it was a good detox. I woud totally recommed this hotel, especially as we ended up in the Hilton Dreams for several hours on our last day due to our flight being delayed - this hotel did not seem half as nice. It had blaring music on for hours and the staff not so freindly. Also if you want to book toors to cairo ect, I suggest going into the market and doing it thought one of those agents, we saved nearly two hundred poundsdoing it this way.

Returned from a two week holiday on the 7th July, 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. I had read all the reviews and coresponded with people who had recently been to the reef oasis so had a few different opinions of this hotel, i knew there was building work but decided to go anyway. I had requested adjoining/ rooms next to each other. Arrived late due to delays and had to request a move immediatly as rooms were spread out, we were tired so stayed in the second room, next morning opened the curtains to be confronted by a building site with men peering at the swimming pool. Was moved 2 days later to rooms 173/174 which were much better.
We were all ill, 2 days for me, bad stomach, feeling sick and the worst stomach cramps i have ever had. The diharreah continued for 6 days on and off. My friend ill for 11 days, only stopped when we had been home for a week. Kids few days of feeling sick. Every person i spoke to was ill and to varing degrees. Some people had to get the t ablets from the pharmacy and others had to have the Doctor out to give them injections, there are many theories as to the cause my opinion is its the pools. i never once saw the pool man test the water and as so many people had the runs it had to be something we were all doing that made us all so ill, yes we were all in the pool as it was so hot and most people did not stick to the rule of not going in the pool for 72 hours if you had been ill.
Heat: it was very hot and the nights did not cool enough to make it pleasant, i would suggest going April and October.
Food: 3 places to eat but only the main resterant is air conditioned, the food was repetative and sometimes unidentifiable. I do not eat red meat and some of the mixed salads etc were not labelled. It all looks clean and well presented bt i would not say its 4/5 star food. The resturant over loking the beach is a lovely location but not air conditioned and is full of sparrows that steal your fod if you leave the table for a second, they have also got cat scarers that make high pitched noises that are supposed to scare the birds all it did was hurt my daughters ears,(adults cant hear the sounds) i would be careful if you have small children. Italian rstaurant was the best food but unbearable heat as not air conditioned.
REP; Jo the Thomas Cook rep was great so if you have a problem go to see her in the hotel reception.
Tipping: i think you should tip when you have recieved good service not before you recieve it. I dont agree with paying to be treated like a King as some people have said in previous reviews. Most of the staff were excellent at their job without being bribbed to fetch and carry for you. I did tip near the end of our stay and i think if we stick to this the Egyptian staff will continue in there curtious way to provide a good service to all not just the few.
Beach: no toilets on the beach which is hidious if you have a bad stomach!!! Food drinks on the beach, enough beds but very close together, the reef is excellent, walk along the pontoon at night the fish are amazing.
You get pestered by people trying to get you to have beauty treatments, hair braiding and Henna tatoos. This stops when you get a tan as they dont bother as they know they have already asked you.
Disco; My children went said it was ok.
Animation team; if you have smal children i heard they do take English children and all the workers spoke english however i think they catered for the itlian, Russian children. The evening shows were awful but i never expect to much. Not enough seats to watch show and its boilng hot again no air conditioning.
Summary.
It will be lovely when its finished, our pool had a swim up bar but only self service water and juice. Its huge so be prepared for a walk, its safe for teengaers to have some independance in the evening. The stomach issue really does need looking into . Trips, we went on the Tiran Island snorkling trip it was excellent well worth the ?33. each. Staff very nice. Nama Bay awful, well maybe ok if your 19 years old and want bars and clubs and tacky souverniers. We met some nice people and it was lovely not to be surrounded by English people the mix of nationalities works well and is a welcome change. Towel war's continue and im afraid we are getting as bad as some of our other european cousins so you may not get a lie in as you may have to get up at 6.30 if you want a sun bed by the pool!!!. Im happy to answer any questons anyone has. Good luck and enjoy.

When we arrived we were given a room which overlooked a concrete walkway on the ground floor so no private area to sit out, so we immediately asked reception for another room they showed us a room in the new block but overlooking the building site, we said no to this eventually they showed us to a room on the 1st floor overlooking the Rama Pool, so if at first you dont succeed try again. We were happy with this room it was comfortable and clean and had a private balcony, but not luxurious.
The Food: on first taste of the food we thought it wasnt too bad, but 2 days in we were both had tummy upsets and my husband was actually sick and had the most violent stomach cramps he has ever had - this continued throughout the whole holiday. He tried just to eat bread rolls and soup and drank copious amounts of water - to no avail - we have been back in the uk now for 3 days and his tummy upset continues. I am not surprised as the food was never very hot and in the heat over there bugs must multiply at a very fast rate. Hygiene did seem very good and the staff work very hard I guess it was just unfortunate.
The Reef: was brilliant we saw lost of different brightly coloured fish, including stingrays and moray eels.
The Beach: very busy - not enough room to spread out, sunbeds lined up next to each other - this we didnt like at all!
Staff: work very hard, really friendly, we tipped them all.
In summary a nice hotel, shame about the food, the reef fantastic, and rooms comfortable - would we go back - definately no!
Of note - nothing to do wiith hotel but we were delayed 4 hours coming back home with monarch to manchester then had to stop in Italy for change of crew so the whole journey took about 7 hours - we could have gone to the carribbean (which is much nicer by the way) - this just topped things off.
