Just got back from a 2 week family (my wife and 2 kids aged 6 & 4yrs) holiday at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay resort. When we originally booked this holiday in January we were a little worried (cynically) about the fact that the price was quite low given everything you got in return. However, I have to say that it represented very good value for money and we had a great time. There were pros and cons and I will start with the latter:
Although there are a choice of restaurants, the quality of food is not great and after two weeks it was getting very repetitive. The French restaurant is full a la carte and is not included in the all inclusive price. The restaurant however, was not that great and the food was over priced.
The wine included in the all inclusive is very poor. and straight out of a carton. You can pay extra for bottled wine from Europe / Australia etc but this is very expensive even for just basic table wine.
Had a few problems with no water in the room, electrical power cuts and one morning without aircon which when its 42 degrees is a problem!
No baby sitting which I found surprising and disappointing for a predominantly family hotel.
In terms of the pros:
weather is great although would suggest not going in July August if you have small children as it is too hot.
rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable with separate rooms / bathroom for the kids. Also very quite with good facilities (soft drinks / tea and coffee in the room)
Good selection of pools and sunbathing areas to cater for all tastes and the beach is great with exceptional snorkelling!
Staff are mostly very friendly and helpful although a few of them are quite surly and rude. If you tipped them they would look after you (but you feel a little aggrieved at tipping when you have paid all inclusive)
Kids club run by Thomson was very good and the staff were very friendly and professional. Kids loved it although it was a small problem as a result of the age difference of our kids meant they were in different groups
Entertainment was great - whatever they are paying the animation team, its not enough! They put on some excellent performances in the amphitheatre which kids and adults really enjoyed.
All in all we had a very good time. There are better family resorts in Europe that we have been to but they are generally more expensive. You get what you pay for but I would say that although we won't go back to this hotel (the worlds a big place) it did represent great value for money and you will have a very enjoyable time with no regrets.

Hallo! We are a couple from Belgium and we spent 2 weeks at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay Hotel. All in all it was a nice holiday but there are some things that are way too far from a service of a 5 stars hotel. Let's start from the pool bars: a lot of times we have been served the drinks in the glasses washed in front of our eyes just with the hands of the bartender. This is completely against the sanitary rules!! Some of them are friendly, others are really really rude and they make the priorities for some nationalities (probably the people who were giving them the tips before). We have been in different hotels in Egypt and normally it's not a problem at all to drink fresh juices, here they were serving us a kind of "plastic" powder juice mixed with water, we never drink this kind of beverage at home why do we have to pay the holiday to do it? The food in the restaurants was good (didnt try the french restaurant) but in the pool bars it left us disappointed. We love snorkeling but the reef is poor and there are not so many fish. For the people who come often in Egypt there is not exciting to make snorkeling here. The territory of the hotel is big and quite nice, there are a lot a lot of nice sea views and in general the hotel is green enough. The rooms and the cleaning service are absolutely OK we don't have any complains about it. The hotel is not so far from Nama Bay and there is also the Bus Service from the hotel. The women that are taking sun in the bikini or just walking around are often too much watched by the egyptian staff pretending to be "busy" cleaning the palms or fixing the lights during the day... from our point of view there should be different working hours for these things. The point that saved our holiday was the Entertainment team, one of the best that we ever had. The work really hard all day long and they involve you to play something without being pushy. During the day you can get busy making water sports, fitness or just some fun games with the animators. We loved making the animals! You will never feel discriminated because the animators speak all the languages (amazing that they even try to speak and learn flemish and it was actually not so bad). The night shows were professional and variable, every night something different. There is the spa center full of nice facilites inside. One can make sauna, go to the gym, make different kind of massages and body treatments. In the end we didnt have a bad time over there but we definitely had better.

Just returned from this hotel yesturday. Travelled myself, my husband and our 18 and 16 year old sons with Portland Holidays. Would mention when you get to sharm airport do not queue for visa unless you are going to cairo/luxor as you do not need them but they will happily guide you to the queue for one. We didnt and went straight to passport control and when he asked about visa we said we didnt want one and away we went. Cannot fault any of it, the hotel rooms were huge and immaculate, we stayed in rooms 6135 and 6125 which were located at the entrance to the hotel and right near the dive pool and the water flume pool. These rooms were cleaned daily to high standard with change of towels, drinks in the fridge. At first thought we were miles away from the main reception and bars etc but its only 5 minute walk through the middle and a pleasant walk anyway. The pool guys are really attentive and polite, infact they treat you like royalty, they work so hard and are happy to do so. You do not need to fight for sunbeds as there are plenty, if you cant find one, ask the guys and they will find you some but unlikely not to have them. The infinity pool over the beach is lovely also. Didnt try the others so cant comment. The food was lovely and plenty of it and not all mushy as experienced in other all inclusive places in the past. It was all very well presented and hot. Bar staff are lovely too and will joke and do as much as they can to make your stay good.
Went quad biking which is well recommended especially for the boys, you do have fun and do get very dirty so take old clothes and pleny of sun block if wearing shorts/t shirts as gets hot.
Snorkelling is amazing and enough room for everyone to enjoy, there is limited swimming space from the beach so not really suitable for little ones if they want to do lots of sea swimming as corals line the full length of the resort and swimming starts from the jettys which is very deep water but safe.
Cant comment on evening entertainment as we never bother with that, the bars are lovely and we enjoyed them in our own company with background music.
Excellent in all we experienced but did have dodgy bellies between us but put that down to lots of booze and very intense heat.
Enjoy.

This hotel has something for every age and taste and I would have no hesitation in saying it was by far the best value for money holiday I have ever experienced!
Grounds:
The grounds ar spread over a generous area although nowhere feels out of the way. There are gardners constantly tending to the greenery and keeping everywhere spotlessly clean. I could not fault any area of this hotel for it's cleanliness.
Pools/Beach:
There are four pools at this property which includes one diving pool. However, the front pool which overlooks the sea could be counted as 2/3 pools on it's own and also has numerous jacuzzi whirlpools dotted around.
The activity pool has 3 waterslides that keeps the kids and big kids entertained. This area is very lively with dance music pumping out all day and entertainment staff milling around and directing activities.
The relax pool is adults only and you won't even see entertainment staff around here. The pool is huge with an infinity drop off to another lower pool and the atmosphere around here is ultra chilled out. We spent our whole time around here and also had a room overlooking the rear of the bar area. I would recommend that couples without children ask to be located in this area, you won't be disappointed!
The beach is located below the main building area and has dipping areas in the sea due to the coral reef that runs the full length of the coastline. There is a jetty for people to jump off and swim, snorkel and dive. A bus runs constantly from the lobby to the beach and back which is ideal for those with any walking difficulties or when the heat is intense.
Rooms:
We were lucky enough to be allocated a two bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, two stocked fridges and a balcony. I did see a few other rooms which were also very nice and well kept. Rooms are cleaned and fridges re-stocked daily. Good air conditrioning, stallite t.v etc. Very impressed overall!
Food:
We mainly ate in the buffet, barbeque or beach restaurant and also ate a few times in the Tavern english pub in Nama bay. The food was plentiful, cooked to a high standard and fresh. I enjoyed every single meal! We didn't eat at any of the a la carte restaurants because I enjoyed the buffets so much and can't be bothered sitting ordering from menus when I can be doing something else. However, friends reported the Italian and French to be very good.
Staff:
The staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly. When you locate your favourite watering holes be sure to give a few tips and you'll never wait for a drink. 20 Egyptian ?2 sterling will more than suffice.
The staff at the barbeque were not as good as the rest and you could sometimes wait a little long for water etc during busy serving times in the buffets. Other than that the staff were all fabulous!
Entertainment:
There is a full entertainment team who organise activities for those who wish to get involved and if you don't they will leave you to it. The gym is very modern with quality equipment and the most amazing view over the red sea. The Spa is also excellent. I had a swedish, sports and Thai massage whilst there and all were fantastic and reasonably priced.
Diving:
There is an onsite dive school which I would recommend for beginners but advanced divers should look to use either Emperor or Red Sea College toward Nama Bay which is 5 minutes in a taxi.
Don't pay more than 40 Egyptian for trips to and from Nama Bay in a local cab. The hotel cars will charge 65 (Still not expensive)
Get down to Nama Bay and experience a bit of culture. Don't be alarmed by the locals trying to get you into their shops and restaurants. Just keep walking and repeatedly say "No thanks" if your not interested.
When buying stuff barter like hell, that's the local way. Even go to walk out the shop and watch the price drop!
I'll just reiterate this (Don't be on edge or alarmed in Nama Bay your perfectly safe)!
Have a great time and don't hesitate if you want to ask any questions. Cheers!
