Hotel Imperial Holiday
GOOD POINTS
The hotel is very clean, most of the staff are very helpful & the rooms are clean & functional but there is no mini bar in the room. The breakfast is a continental buffet & is adequate
BAD POINTS
The coffee in the restaurant is served from a large urn & is not even tepid The music coming from the pool bar is very loud & is of the worst mixture of euro pop & local music Do not under any circumstance use the hotel to make a telephone call, one international call to confirm my taxi to the airport & one local call to confirm my flight home cost ?4-50. The most rudest man in Marrakesh works behind the counter of the Jungle Bar, easily recognised by his evening suit, asking for a glass of Rose wine & a local beer certainly brings out the worst in him & he has certainly not heard of courtesy & customer service
Marrakesh itself is best to visit for a maximum of two or three days, it is mainly dirty, full on, non stop in your face, with possibly the worst drivers in the world, they do not even stop for pedestrians on zebra crossings. When catching a small Fiat taxi, avoid the Mercedes taxis at all cost, which are even more of a rip off, either ask the fare before getting in the taxi or get the driver to put the meter on, Most taxi drivers take one look at you, see that you are a tourist & will try to rip you off. Do not pay no more than 20 Dh in the day to go to Place Jemaa El Fna (Night Market) & no more than 30 Dh at night. For a thrill of a lifetime travel in the front seat of a taxi, life will never seem sweeter when you get out of the taxi. If you can remember any of your school day French you will find that your life is so much easier. Finally if you like seeing half staved horses & donkeys pulling obscene large & heavy loads with stray cats & dogs being kicked this is town for you.

After just returning from the Imperial Holiday Hotel in Marrakech the hotel rating is a four star, if they said a three star that would be near the truth. The hotel was very clean and tidy, bedrooms very spacious and clean but the rooms had no carpet on the floor just tiles so you can imagine what I an going to say, the rooms from above and to the sides, any movement of furniture or walking across the floor yopu hear everything. At the rear of the hotel is the swimming pool area a bit on the small side but O/K. Then you have the building work which joins the hotel at one side at the moment it is only three stories high. The noise is horrendous from 08.30 in the morning to around 16.00 and somtimes longer, workmen harmed with hammers erecting shutering and striking shutering all day, these men if they see a piece of wood it seems compulsory they have to hit it all day long every day there is no rest bite from the noise. So what does the hotel do turns up the music round the pool to compensate for the noise the work men are making. So any one going to this hotel please check before you go regarding the building work.

me my hubby and another couple went to Marrakech 28th May- 04 June 08.. We got our keys and as soon as we walked in it wasnt a what we expected as a 4 * and we were given twin beds when i especiallay requested double as we went for our anniversary... They were willing to move us but we didnt arrive there till midnight and we were too tired to do anything... The bath was dirty too... In the morning we were woken up early by the building work, there is a hotel being built right next doors so all we could hear was banging.... After breakfast the manager kindly changed our rooms but that meant having the street view and that was no better because you could hear ppl arguing all night long on the street...
Breakfast is the same everyday and the omelette is basic, if you are lucky u might get a few chopped tomatoes and onions on an odd day, otherwise its a plain omelette...they do not top up the buffet for breakfast, they put everything out at one time so if you go down at 10am, you will get left overs....
They dont understand english so make sure your french and arabic is up to scratch.... We ordered food from the pool bar for lunch and it took over an hour to get it and for soem reason they only give a baby portion of chips when you ask them for lots... thats the case in most places in Marrakech....
My room was cleaned but no fresh towels were left so i called up house keeping for some towles, he didnt have a clue what i was saying, it was very fustrating.... So i just went to my mates room and took her towles...
For a 4* hotel you would atleast expect them to have an iron, but they gave my loads of stories how they dont have one and then they do but its big and i must pay to get my clothes ironed by them, but i kicked up a fuss and they had an iron all along...
They dont have a mini bar in the standard rooms so we asked for a bucket with some but they only seem to have 1 bucket in the hotel.....
The staff in the hotel are not helpful at all and it doesnt help when they cant speak english or understand english....

Even after reading some bad reviews on this hotel, me and my friend booked imperial thinking it cant really be that bad (how wrong were we). We were in marrakech for 5 nights and we got a good rate of ?30 for the room. initial impression on arrival wasn't that bad staff were very pleasant but that all soon changed when we arrived to our room.
It wasn't exactly a four star room, small bathroom, tv with no remote and the wardrobes were a bit dusty but we had a balcony which was good.... so we thought. We had a pool view but to my horror on the right side there was some building work being carried out. They were in the process of making a full tower building which instantly meant noise.
The swimming pool was apparantly heated but as most of the other reviews suggested it was ARCTIC COLD. No sunlight can get through to it due to the way the building is erected.
A certain staff member pestered us for ages to book a tour, it payed off finally when me and my friend gave here 250 dirhams each for a Atlas Mountains tour which we didnt end up going to. The Jungle bar at night is a drab affair. Drinks are expensive which is expected, local men group around and to my shock there are a few prostitutes there.
Breakfast was appaling, bread rolls cheese, something pink looked like salami, juice, cereal, tea and coffee. Where's the eggs at? Bread rolls were hard as rock, my filling came out as a result. And the street the hotel is located on STINKS.
After the third night me and my friend had enough we decided to look for another better hotel which if you think about it cant really be that hard to find. We came across Hotel Kenzi Farah which is a five star, we booked two nights costing ?89 for a room, money well spent . we CHECKED OUT 2 NIGHTS EARLY from imperial holiday. Its one of the best decisions ive ever made.
My advise will be please do not book this hotel.

I have just come back from a very pleasant stay at the Imperial Holiday Hotel.
The staff here were very friendly, polite and helpful. They answered all our questions and queries, being the first time for my husband and I to Marrakech we had a lot of questions regarding where to visit, etc. But the staff were happy to help and advise throughout our stay.
Once we received our key card we headed up to our room and our luggage was brought up 5mins later. Our room was spacious, clean with 2 double beds which were very comfortable, and a nice sized balcony. There is also a sticker on the ceiling showing you the direction of the Qibla (this is where muslims face when praying) as my husband and I are muslims we found this useful. The remote controls for the TV and AC were at reception so make sure you ask for them when checking in. Not many english channels on the TV which is a shame, but with so much to do and see you don't really get much time to watch TV. The bathroom had a nice power shower and was fairly clean, towels and bed linen changed every day.
The breakfast was great, cereals, bread, butter, jams, pastries and more. Also you could order freshly made pancakes, omelettes etc from the chef who cooks it in front of you. The orange juice was fantastic, I loved it!!! The tea and coffee were also nice.
There is building work going on next door, but you can't really hear anything (besides they have to work just like everyone does, tourists don't stop brits from drilling a hole or laying a brick).
Unfortunately the Swimming Pool is in the shade for the majority of the day. So must be cold.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and I would stay again.
