The place isn't quite as bad as some of the other reviews may indicate. The staff was courteous and friendly. Nothing too horrid about the rooms, although they do need some touch ups - cracked ceilings, peeling paint, sticky door knobs, etc...but I guess you get what you pay for. Main problem was the noise...I was awoken at 2 in the morning by drunk people leaving the sports bar next door, and again a couple hours later by a couple arguing in the next room. The walls and door are paper thin...you hear EVERYTHING. Get to bed early so you can try to get in as many peaceful hours of sleep as possible before you are interrupted.

I am not the type to complain, and am not picky nor grossed out easily. This is one of those rare cases where I was digusted, and quite upset. We paid $130 dollars for a one night stay in a non-smoking room (but were placed NEXT to a SMOKING room). Our room also featured: - heavily stained carpet - stained bed sheets - sheets with cigarette burns in them When we asked for new sheets, the front desk assured us we were given clean sheets, but would "look into it'. They never did. There is also a sports bar attached and it was very loud with yelling, and cursing most of the night. Never stay here, EVER.

Haha - Though I say the Rest Inn is bit of a crack house, I've stayed here on 4 separate occasions and recommended friends and family here because of the price and location. Probably the closest hotel to the bars in the Hub (Stages, etc.), also the cheapest hotel close to campus, across the street from a Tim Horton's which is convenient. There is a gay bar attached to the hotel. The reason I say it's a bit of a crack house is because it's run down and it's location in Kingston is right around where they hang out. I'm not saying the area is dangerous, but it will depend on your tolerance if you would find this area acceptable. The room walls are somewhat thin, drunks wander past, and there is an annual Elvis Impersonation contest that is hosted there (not sure if it still is). Pros: price, location Cons; run down, bad area of town

Our room was booked by a friend and then I read the OLD reviews from 2004 on this site and was VERY apprehensive. However, I am pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised as were the other 3 people travelling with me. I don't know what accounts for the drastic change from the reviews I read to the actual experience I had with this hotel. The place was clean and quiet and the staff pleasant and helpful. The rooms were what I expected for someone not wanting to spend a fortune for a place to simply sleep and shower. Clean beds and clean bathrooms. There was a nice patio to sit out on and a clean pool area. To top it all off, upon checkout I forgot two brand new sets of clothing in the room. When I realized a week later, I called and they knew exactly who I was and what I was talking about. My clothing arrived in my hometown by courier service shortly thereafter. Would I and my friends stay here again? Would I recommend the hotel to others? MOST DEINATELY!

Propreté douteuse, ménage pas fait correctement à notre arrivé. Nuit plus que bruyante: le motel possède un chien pour la sécurité, mais ce dernier aboie toute la nuit! Petit déjeuner "continental" à éviter puisqu'il est tout aussi douteux que la propreté de l'établissement. Accueil froid et aucun sentiment que l'on s'intéresse à notre confort
