We had a very nice stay at the Michelangelo. Our room, 706, was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Very clean, better than expected breakfast, quiet neighbourhood.
Well located, near the vaticano , where there are lots of fountains of fresh water- precious in July when the temperature rises to 40?C!

My family and I stayed at the Starhotels Michaelangelo for four nights in the first week of July as part of a vacation package from Costco Travel. The only positive attribute the hotel has is its close proximity to the Vatican. Every member of the staff we encountered had a negative, snobby and unfriendly attitude. The breakfast buffet was poor. One morning, the bacon was not cooked thoroughly. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants that serve breakfast in the area, so we had no other options. The cleanliness in the hotel room was lacking. There were brown stains in the toilet when we checked into the room. The bathroom sink and towel racks are much too close to the toilet. There was very little shelf space in the bathroom. Holes in the closet door were patched up, but not painted over. There were a number of large scratches and ink marks on the walls. Our bellman merely dropped off our bags in our rooms. Unlike other hotels, he did not ask us if we had any other requests or point out any of the features of the room and hotel. Cooling air from the air conditioner was very weak, even when turned up to the max.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in 4 hotels in Italy for our honeymoon and this was the only one that left a rose in our room. Nice first impression. The room was spacious and clean although the walls needed painting. The foyer was classey however the staff weren't the friendliest. The location is good to explore the vatican and St Peters but is a good walk into the historic center which isn't a problem really as walking is definately the beat way to see rome. breakfast was the best of all the hotels in Italy we stayed in however thats not saying much. The a/c wasn't great.
Overall a fairly nice hotel and i would stay there again.

This is my second stay at this hotel and unlike a lot of other reviewers of this hotel, I am staying here on business and not for sightseeing.
I wont bother coming back here again. I checked in and they gave me a room with a two single beds and a desk that the TV took most of the space up. I need desk space for my work I asked to change rooms and they did to a smaller one, but it had a decent sized bed. The airconditioning is weak and just doesnt seem to cool the room down. As I write its nearly 95 degrees outside.Internet connection is fast in the rooms, but drops off occasionally.
I had dinner in the restaurant last night. Its awful. The waiter was miserable and the waitress looks like she is more concerened how she looks than how the guests feel. I had a plate of veal escalopes which were 2 tiny thin pieces of veal and 5 slices of potato and it cost 24 Euros, add that to half a bottle of wine and a bottle of water it came to 48 Euros, absolutely extortionate!! There are a couple of decent (cheaper) restaurants along the road if you turn right out of the hotel and take a left at the petrol station
The room was clean but the bathroom is small and has no bath, just a corner shower unit. No shelf to put my toiletaries. Not particularly convenient
The hotel bar is small and hardly anyone uses it. There are no gym facilities in thsi hotel which I do like to use where available. I would definatley say that as a business hotel its no good, but if you are on a tour of Rome/Italy and its a hotel that you are using as a base for a couple of days, then it will do. If you are looking for somewhere to stay for a weeks holiday/honeymoon/business trip, you can do a lot better.
