stayed 2nts @ end of May. Stayed in rm207-and was plsd with size of room &bathroom, looked on the plan of the hotel rms ¬ed that this was one of the bigger rms. Top floors is covered in scaffolding. The renovation work noise was zero on Sunday but Monday morning there was SLIGHT noise but not much. Front desk said it shuld be all done in10days.Front desk also said there r renovated rms&non renovated rms so rates usually reflect this. Great location & the hotel bar seems v popular. I found the front desk was under staffed at times. The tiny lobby area is not nice just off the front desk and there is a plasma tv there with no sound and somehow the way they have placed it u cannot see the news flashes at the bottom which was annoying.
However--I slept great in the room and bed which I found very comfortable. And tks to front desk staff we had a GREAT meal at Sture Hof.

We stayed in the Hotel Diplomat for two nights in mid-May 2008, based on the recommendations set forth from these reviews. Be aware that the hotel is currently largely covered with outside scaffolding (our hotel room window looked directly out on multiple platforms, tools, etc). The size of the room was not, in fact, large, as an earlier reviewer stated. This was the smallest room we stayed in while traveling Norway and Sweden. Barely enough room to put two suitcases on the floor. The location is the biggest positive to the hotel, located a short walk to Gamla Stran (the old town) and a couple of blocks away from some good clubs and restaurants. Overall, for the cost and comparison to other hotels we stayed in during our trip, the Hotel Diplomat was simply average.

We had only one night in this boutique hotel but location, decor, food and staff were exceptional.
The hotel looks as if its newly decorated and in fact the external building was under scaffolding whilst we were there. Although the decor is very modern they have some of the original features eg a caged type lift which looked stunning.
The rooms were modern and very clean. We had only been in the room for a short while when we realised the heating wasn't working so we let reception know. The guy on the front desk came straight up and said the room wasn't acceptable and he would move us. This he did but to our surprise he moved us to a suite along with doorbell and fantastic views over the river.
The weather was that cold in the evening we decided to dine in the hotel. Not something we would normally choose to do but the food turned out to be lovely, the staff couldn't be more helpful and the wine wasn't too expensive either.
Our leaving day happened to be Easter Sunday and whilst we were waiting for our taxi they provided us with coffee saying it was on the house due to it being Easter. No eggs though unfortunately.
All in all, our short experience with them was enough to make me think I could go back again and I'm extremely fussy when it comes to hotels.

Had a business trip to Sweden and stayed at the Diplomat for five days. Here’s the quick review of the hotel:
• Great location: on Strandvegen across from a picturesque canal; within walking distance to Old Town and Djurgarden (parks and museums). The hotel is situated at the fulcrum of all these areas.
• Old fashioned elegance: very comfortable rooms and beds; good bathrooms with fixed shower heads; very nice bar and lounge; pleasant seating areas on the first and second floors.
• Delicious, fresh, extensive breakfast selection: wonderful bread and rolls; cold meats, cheeses, fresh vegetables; delicious fresh and dried fruit and yogurt; hot selections looked great (didn’t try them, though); excellent coffee, hot milk, juices.

From initial arrival to booking out 5 days later, we found the staff to be helpful, pleasant and professional.
Our room was a good size, clean, tidy and well stocked with any items we may have required.
The restaurant was excellent as was the bar and the first floor cocktail lounge.
Stockholm is a beautiful place to visit, plenty of shops, cafe,s and interesting buildings. Easy to walk around and to visit other islands especially the old town.
Would like to re-visit May/June when the boats will be available to travel further afield.
