Hi
We stayed twice at the Hotel Carpegna. The 1st. time we were on the 4th floor with a sky light for a window. Right after Easter it was hot and a Really BAD small room. But it was for only one night so we did not complain. The second time we spent an extra $20.00 through Expedia and got a mini suite on the 3rd floor which was great two beautiful rooms with a pull out sofa bed if you need more sleeping room. Marble floors and what we thought was a very nice view of McDonalds LOL No really the bathroom was big and beautiful and the suite was a real suite! So if you plan on staying in this Hotel spend the extra money and enjoy it also if you book through Expedia Breakfast is FREE while you stay. Its not cooked eggs to order but as you know or maybe not know? It is very expensive to eat in Europe. So a FREE breakfast is GREAT!
The Hotel has a great Bar and the Grounds are wonderful it is off the road a ways so it is quite but it is hard to find there is only one sign in the front on the street So you might miss it if your not careful. Oh if you need a car to the airport it is only $45 and the hotel takes care of everything.

The hotel is far from the city center but it's quite near the metro, expect to spend half an hour to get to the main attactions except the Vatican which is only 4 metro stops far. The breakfast is Ok, the room was clean and the reception was in the average. The garden is amazing and the room was very silent. Its is a hotel where many groups stay, so it may get a bit noisy sometimes. We heard a lot about thieves in hotels in Rome so do use the safe and keep your luggage locked. There are many restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are peaceful. The church within the hotel is stunning(but not functioning) Rooms are small but clean and comfortable..
the Bistro resaurant is expensive, and the food was poor. More bones than meat in both the steak and chicken we had. Breakfast was Ok.One of our party slipped on a wet floor in the breakfast room, not one of the staff came to help, or ask if she was OK.
The problem with this hotel is that most the staff are verging on being rude. They are less than helpful when asked anything a tourist might want to know, like 'where is the metro?'
The reception advertises a hotel tranfer taxi, which costs 60-80 euros Don't use this, a general taxi, in rush hour on Monday moring cost us 40 euro.
I wouldn't go to this hotel again simpley because the customer service was so poor, and most of the staff where rude.

We stayed in Grand Palazzo for 3 nights as the last leg in our Italy journey. The Hotel is beautuiful and the property is just wonderful. The garden around the hotel building are lovely for walks. The hotel is far from the city centre but is convenietly close to a metro station which makes travel extremely hassle free. The rooms are quite small and you may feel a bit cramped if you have baggage. We felt the hotel was more of a "business hotel" than a place for tourists. The service is good but a little impersonal, the breakfast was a good spread but the layout reinforces the business like nature. However, one place where Grand Palazzo is unbeatable is the bar/lounge area. We spent our last evening in Rome lounging in the bar area and it was superb. The service was impeccable. The bartender , a fab guy, was extremely friendly and caring and the live music was just so relaxing. It was wonderful. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay (cut short from a 4 night stay thanks to British Airways :-) ) at the Palazzo Carpegna and had a great time. The hotel is lovely, nice and quiet in it's own park but a 2 minute walk from the Metro station 'Cornelia' which takes you into the city centre in 5 minutes.
Some staff are very friendly and welcoming......but some are not! Breakfast was only OK, nothing special but did the trick just nicely! Although the room was small, it was perfect for the two of us who had no luggage (thanks once again to B.A) and hardly spent any time in the hotel anyway.
I would definately stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others, mainly for the bargain prices and the modern rooms. The only complaint I had was that the hairdryer was broken but that was easily sorted.....
