Conveniently situated in the heart of the left bank, and walking distance from the museums. Simply and attractively furnished. Attentive and helpful staff.
Some minor caveats. Space is at a premium in Paris, and the amount of space, in particular storage space, in our deluxe room was only barely sufficient. We wouldn't recommend the much smaller superior rooms. Breakfast was a bit disappointing - especially at the 27 Euro price. We would recommend breakfasting at any of the numerous cafes in the neighborhood.

Just came back from 3 night stay in Paris, booked on Expedia, $4.5K total price tag.
So, I have read a lot reviews here prior to trip (after I booked it, naturally) and was quite concerned about this hotel.
Now I have to say - do not believe everything you read. Pont Royal is a great place. Location is perfect and that is the most important factor. Now, you have to realize - you get what you pay for, as always. Hotel has 7 stories. Floors 5,6,7 do have outstanding view and have most expensive rooms. If you are ready to pay - request and pay for a 'premium' room and you will be delighted.
My story is - we arrived on July 3rd and VERY polite and helpful receptionist informed us that our room is not available because previous guest got sick and cannot move out. We were given a small clean room in hotel nearby (VERY small room, comparable to cheap $200 room in NYC Manhattan theater district if you`ve been there) BUT in return we got upgrade to premium room for rest of out stay plus free breakfasts (28 euro for buffet).
Now, food prices are ridiculous in entire Paris. Be ready to be shocked.
Overall, again, premium room was not large by American standards but nicely decorated as on hotel pictures. I can assume that on lower floors rooms would not look like ours, but, well, all I can say – we had a very nice vacation and hotel staff (as well as other Parisians we spoke on streets) we very nice, polite, and no one rejected us any help we asked for. I guess, most people just find what they look for – so we found Paris to be friendly, nice, but extremely expensive. And, there is no draft beer there, almost nowhere. Bottle of Heineken goes for 5 Euros. Brrr…

We stayed at the Hotel Pont Royal during the last leg of a Honeymoon trip to Europe this past June 08'. We made our selection of this hotel premised upon reviews that we had read on Trip Advisor ourselves. Unfortunately, our stay fell far short of the great experieces that we had enjoyed at other properties and with a cruise line during this special trip. The Hotel Pont Royal was located in a fine location, however, that is the only positive that I can share of our stay. Upon booking our trip I let the management know on several occasions that this was a "Honeymoon" trip and that we would appreciate anything "special" that that might done for us during our stay. Throughout our trip at other hotels and on the cruise line we had been given perks from champagne, flowers, chocolate, fruit baskets, chocolate covered strawberries and even room upgrades where the facilities could provide them. All without asking! The Hotel Pont Royal did nothing and in fact never responded to simple promises and requests. The room was very poorly decorated with outdated linens from my guess, the 60's. We kindly asked for another room at the same price that was hopefully more elegantly decorated. The Management never even got back to us! We asked the concierge to make dinner reservations for us, but was never responded to with the information. One night we asked for a reservation at the well-known French Restaraunt attached to the hotel; as we had dined at another of this chef's restaraunt in Monte Carlo and enjoyed it. This time we waited for nearly 40 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. I believe our request was never made! The most frustrating for us was the fact that we had arranged with the management during our booking to provide us with a driver to pick us up and return us to the airport on the day of our departure. I checked upon our arrival and was told that all appeared to be in order. When it came time to leave however, the driver never showed and consequently we nearly missed our flight back to the states. Very poor service with little follow-up if I might say! There were several apologies extended, but that was it. I would never recomend this hotel to anyone!!!!

What can I say, but LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. From the hotel you can walk to the Louvre in 10 minutes (just head north on Rue du Bac). If museums aren't your thing, then walk along the Seine and you'll be able to reach the other attractions.
Besure to pick up: The Paris Mapguide: The Essential Guide to La Vie Parisienne (Penguin Handbooks) (Map) If you're like me (i.e. horrible with directions), then this mapguide is a must have.

We stayed at the Hotel Pont Royal for 3 nights in late May. All I can say is that this is a very average hotel and definitely not worth the price they're charging.
As previous reviewers have stated, the location is fantastic and easy walking distance to just about everything you'd want to see. We chose it because if it's location near Saint Germain des Pres and the fabulous shops and restaurants. We spent a lot of time walking around the Latin Quarter, Ile Saint Louis, Notre Dame and Centre Pompidou and this hotel was a perfect starting point to get to all of those locations.
As for the hotel itself, the rooms need a MAJOR renovation. The lobby is lovely but once you get to your room it's a total disconnect. We were told when we arrived that we had been upgraded to a Superior room--which is great--except when we saw it we immediately asked what made this room different from the room we had booked and they said, 'nothing, they're basically the exact same'. So much for the upgrade. The room was extremely tiny and the decor is outdated and crappy. We were only in our room for about 5 minutes before it became obvious to us that it could not sustain electricity as well. We were then moved to another room (same shape and size) on a higher floor. The only redeeming value of this room was that it had a balcony--which we loved and sat outside having cocktails at sundown.
You should be aware that the rooms do not in any way resemble what you will see on their pamphlets and advertisements. These rooms are completely different and don't even seem like they're from the same hotel. Nothing is similar except the look of the lobby.
On positive note, the staff was lovely and accommodating.
In sum, I would not spend the money to stay here again. I've been to Paris many times and this was by far the worst hotel in terms of the look of their hotel rooms versus price.
If that does not bother you then it's a great location in central Paris.
