I stayed in many hotels worldwide, but this was the first (and hopefully last) hotel that I checked out early. I booked for 3 nights, but checked out after the first night. The hotel is old and needs renovations quickly! The reception is very unprofessional. The rooms are old, smelly and the windows are not soundproof. I had several problems with housekeeping, I could not iron my shirts, this was only done by housekeeping, but they were not in the hotel around 6 PM when I wanted to iron it myself. I was promissed that my shirts would be ironed the same evening, but my shirt was disappeared in the morning. I waited for more than an hour, before they finally found it. I had no time for breakfast and missed my business appointment. The staff in the hotel is absolutely not friendly and very unprofessional.

Reading the previous ambiguous reviews here, I was somehow unsure of what to expect.
However, I must say that I was more than satisfied.
The hotel is right in the center of Luxembourg City, everything is within easy walking distance - the cathedral is only 3 minutes away.
The whole atmosphere is very charming - it is a typically old-world hotel, with a great lobby and bar, very friendly staff etc.
Mind you, it does not always offer the typical non-descript yet predictable standard of international chains, as its luster is somewhat faded, the room equipment (TV etc.) is not quite up-to-date etc. Nonetheless my room was spotlessly clean and I had nothing to complain about.
The staff is friendly, multilingual and helpful.

We arrived in Luxembourg from Belgium. The hotel staff was friendly and let us check in early. The rooms were clean. The hotel was close to restaurants, bars, shops and some sightseeing. We took a cab from the train station to the hotel -a quick ride. We also took a cab to the American cemetery. I would recommend this hotel.

My wife and I enjoyed our one night stay, at the tail end of a European river cruise. The location was terrific, and the room was OK. They were re-paving the main street outside, so anyone booking now, will enjoy a fresh view of the gorge directly across the street from the hotel. The front desk service was outstanding, and the restaurant downstairs was fine. All in all, no complaints, and we'd stay there again.

I booked the Cravat (as a single traveller) through Expedia before reading the reviews of other travellers. I therefore arrived with some misgivings, but I'm pleased to report that my three night stay was very pleasant. Check-in was very efficient and I was shown to my room by the porter. The room was a good size, with two single beds and enough room for two arm chairs and another chair at the writing desk. The view was stunning - right across one of the deep river valleys that surround the city and for miles beyond that. The bathroom was large and well equipped, with a bathrobe. There was a mini-bar and a multi-chanel TV with CNN (though without a UK chanel). Breakfast was included and was quite generous (German style buffet) with cold and hot food. Altogether I was very pleased with this choice and would recommend it to others.
