Good Hotel. I asked a single room and I was given a triple one with lake view.
Very clean, internet acces, good breakfast, wonderful view.
Unfortunately, no parking places. I had to walk a few minutes and park to a private parking for 15 chf per night.

We stayed for four nights during March 2008 in this hotel. This is an ok hotel if you compare the price and the location. Situated next to the lake the hotel does have a wonderful view across the water. With the bus stop just on the other side of the road it was very easy to go to the station and other places in Lausanne. There are number of restaurants and shops nearby including supermarkets and there is a very helpful tourist information centre just opposite of the hotel. The boat station of Ouchy is also just in front and the boat is a nice way to go or come back from Montreux and Vevey.
The room we had was on the fourth floor with a balcony overlooking the lake. The room and the bathroom were smallish but very clean. And for a change we received a number of English channels on the TV. Our biggest problem at the hotel was the door locks. To open or lock the room we had to pull/push the door with all our might. The balcony door had no handle from the outside and as the lake side is quite windy one of us had to close the door from inside every time somebody went to the balcony. I am also surprised that the hotel staff took the door lock issue quite lightly and told us to push or pull the door. I fail to understand why they have not rectified it. Apart from that the staffs were helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was very basic with limited choices. It was also annoying that they started to remove the food before the closing time.
If you want to stay on the lake front and do not want to pay a high price, then this hotel will be fine for you. But personally speaking I will look into other options and then decide.

3 nights in a lake view room. This is a basic hotel, a small room basically furnished , but clean. Bring your own soap for the shower, there is a soft soap dispenser over the hand basin but nothing in the shower. The position is very good, although the downside is the skate ramp opposite the hotel. The locals arrive each evening and the noise does not abate until around 11/12.00pm. There is no airconditioning in the rooms so it is a choice between ventilation or the noise. The fun fair almost opposite the hotel is also very noisy until late at night , particularly of a weekend. The restaurant adjoing the hotel provides decent food in comfortable surroundings, at a reasonable price.
Reception staff were helpfull with advice, the bus stop to the town centre and railway station is opposite the hotel, and tickets can be purchased from the tourist office next to the bus stop. Is it a 3 star hotel, probably not, but the view is a big plus.

The best thing about the Aulac is the view over the lake which is just lovely - with the disadvantage that there is a funfair right in front of the hotel with disco music blaring at top noise level until well past midnight. My room was okay, quite simple but clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom well equipped albeit small. The hallways of the place and the reception area give you a fright though, shabby and very much in need of revamping - absolutely no way this is a 3-star hotel, more like 1 or 2-star! I was on a special conference rate, only paid 75 Euro, which according to the receptionist, was half of what one normally pays for a room with a lake view - even € 75 was far too much for this place! The hotel does not have a driveway, so you cannot get the luggage out of the car (except illegally round the corner), the actual parking is quite convenient though, in a public underground carpark across the road (costs 15 swiss francs per 24 hours). The staff was mixed, one time quite polite and friendly, the young lady on my last morning utterly rude and incompetent. I would never stay there again, too noisy, too shabby, too rude, too expensive.

It is a very simple hotel. Not sure how it received a three star rating. Rooms are very small. Beds are not comfortable at all. Bed sheets are extremely short - I am 5'7" (170 cm) and they barely covered my shoulders. Window curtains look like shower curtains and made out of the same material. There are no accessories in the bathroom. Rooms facing the lake are the same with the exception of the view and some have balconies. Breakfast is very simple as well.
The only good thing is location if you are looking to stay right next to the lake. Otherwise, it is very far from the center - not a walking distance.
I would not recommend this hotel. It is definitely not worth the value.
