Because I travel a lot on business it really makes a difference if the hotel is comfortable and make me feel right at home. Bristol did exactly that. I got a beautiful room on the 10th floor with a huge terrace overlooking the city. Mind you that I booked a regular room, nothing fancy. Both, room an dthe bathroom were decorated with taste and style. The bethroom had a huge tub and all the necessary little amnenities one may need. My bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was included and there were so mnay things to eat that I had a hard time walking out of that restaurant after. The only thing I didn't like was that Internet was very expensive, 19 Euros per day!!!!!!!!!!!! Never the less I highly recommend this hotel. The location is great and the hotel is fabulous!

We stayed here 6 nights. The Good -- The room was large and clean. The bathroom was excellent with two sinks, a bath, and separate shower stall. The toilet and a small sink were in a small separate room. Hotel staff were courteous, friendly, and mostly helpful. The Bad -- No room service on weekends. Restaurant closed on weekends. Minimal room service menu when available. Food good but overpriced. Beds were cheap and not very comfortable for price (about 200 euros per night). Hotel bill overcharged me several hundred euros due to errors (was fixed quickly by staff). Summary -- With good beds and better dining this could be a great hotel.

Just returned from a two-night stay at the Hotel Bristol Stephanie. The rooms are very pretty and the bathroom is nice but I would not stay at this hotel again. It is more suited for a business trip, not a family vacation.
The hotel is impersonal; the desk clerk upon arrival told me that the adjoining rooms we reserved (we were traveling with two kids) were not available - sorry! - and we needed to make due with rooms next to each other. It worked out fine but her attitude was rude. Our rooms lacked towels and tissue, also workable, but the final straw was we booked a car through the hotel to take us to the airport. The hotel has a posted set price of 40 Euros but the driver charged us 48.80 Euros.
This was the last stop on our vacation where we stayed in five very lovely hotels; unfortunately this hotel was a disappointment.

we booked the Bristol Stephanie back in March for 3 nights in May.
On arrival (quite tired after a long week and looking forward to a Romantic weekend), we were told by the member of staff that he did not have a room for us because they were overbooked due to a big group that had just checked in.
Now don't get me wrong. I have worked in the luxury Hotel industry as well as many years in the airline industry. I have stayed in hostels, Palaces, lovely B&Bs, not so lovely B&Bs .... and overbooking happens. Yes it happens, it is unfortunate but any airlines or hotels will overbook depending on the no show ratio from the previous year.
But the main difference between a 5 star hotel and a hostel is how they handle those situations. Of course the Guest is going to be angry and disappointed so you are usually prepared and offer the same standard elsewhere.
So there we were at the reception, the member of staff frankly could not care less, did not apologise even once and reminded us that it was not his fault and that - oh Miracle - he was going to UPgrade us to a fantastic appartment.
We had then to make our own way to the so called luxury appartment (we had to walk there - it was past midnight at that stage), no help was offered for our luggage. On arrival to the flat I think I could have cried. It was big, impersonal, corridor and entrance looked chabby (I had in mind one of those nice luxurious selft catering flat - trust me it was not). There was nothing luxurious about it, a far cry for the 5 star room we had booked for a luxury weekend away. We then walked back to the Bristol, handed the key back and told him that we had booked a 5 star bedroom in a 5 star hotel and that it was his job to find us one.
He told us that we should have been happy about getting an upgrade to a flat. He told us that the flat was a 4 star. Now I am not good at maths but going from a 5 star room with all amenities, breakfast and restaurants on location, internet etc... to a so called 4 star appartement with ..well nothing is a DOWNgrade.
Anyway, after 15 min he managed to find us another 4 star deluxe hotel next door and we said we would come back to talk to the manager in the morning (and most importantly find out where we were staying the following nights because at that stage we did not know).
Morning after we walked back to the Bristol, had another lovely member of staff (=sarcasm) who obviously was not aware of our adventure the previous night. He looked at his listing and made it sound like a big favour to find us a room! We had PAID for 3 nights, thank you for finding us a room we paid for!!
We finally checked in and stayed at the Bristol for 2 nights. We never ever received any apology or acknowledgment for the overbook and the inconvenience caused. I have never been treated so badly and this kind of ruined a weekend we had been looking forward to.
The last day we left our luggage to the reception and when we returned my bag had been completely broken (someone had even tried to glue it! unsuccessfully). When I asked what had happened the member of staff just told me 'it was not me! I have just started my shift'. Sherry on the cake!
All in all, saying that we had a bad time at the Bristol Stephanie is an understatement. It's been over a month and I am still angry about it.
To the Bristol Management if you read this: you should be ashamed of yourself!
