I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights as i was working very closeby. I was concerned by the other reviews but i was very pleasantly surprised. I was on the first floor, very clean room - maybe its been revamped? Anyway... food, service, cleanliness and efficiency of staff was way beyond my expectations. The concierge were always very helpful. Not ideally situated for downtown Beirut, but as far as hotels go i definitely rate it. I used the fitness facilities too which were a lot better than many other hotels i have been to. I also ate at the Summer Palace and the Venetia and both were lovely. Wine expensive but then i guess you would expect that. I didnt take any inside photos of the hotel which i now regret as i could have posted them on here.

We stayed in the presidential suite metropolitan, when we were disapointed with the room furniture (old with stains and dirty) we were upgraded to the royal suite. The royal suite was no better stains on the furniture and carpet is the mark of this hotel.
the concierge did not understand our requirements whenever we asked for transportation.
We expected being in the top suite of this hotel to see the luxury anyone expects in this hotel... unfortunatly no.
Swimming pool was closed in september, although weather was still warm.
I would not recommend this hotel for anyone and I will not stay there again.
