Just the perfect place to be -good location, wonderful views, friendly comptetent staff, spotless, comfortable, well appointed room and great food. A good four star ( and I've travelled the world)
Plenty of space around the hotel to sit and not at all crowded
It strikes me that most people who submit comments are wingers who can't spell! Don't pay them any attention, pay your money and get what you pay for don't go on the cheap. This hotel is good value for money.

Check in: This was a painful experience - three people trying to check me in and none of them managed a smile or a welcome. After 10 minutes of them clicking away on the pc one looked up and said it will be 2pm before we have your room ready. After a stroll down the hill to St Georges Bay myself and my wife inspected the raw sewage in the water and the abandoned buildings. When we returned to check in we were given a bizarre number 7 thousand and something! Which is on the the 5th floor then up a narrow set of stairs to the room so it's actually the 6th! Weird is not the word, pure strange is closer!
Rooms: 5 Star ?? eh no more like 2 Star for western europe - the beds and furniture were dated, the shower rusty and the room wasn't the cleanest, even when cleaned! We had a room which looked over a busy road where the Malta GP was help nightly by the boy racers!
Service: Very poor - ?12 for a key for the safe in the room! Whats that all about a 5 star hotel ! Room Service "24 Hours" it says in the booklet in the room I rang at 1am to be told we close at 11pm??? The do not disturb sign means nothing to them! they will still try to come in - so if your unfortunate enough to have already booked this hotel remeber to put the latch on!
Location: At the top of a steep road on a dangerous bend with a footpath about the width of a buggy!
Would I stay here again ??? No ! Would I go to Malta again? No! The hotel and Malta need a good clean and a modernisation will take 20 years to catch up!
It says on the hotel website that it is a 4 star hotel but when you arrive there is 5 stars painted everywhere!! On the stationary everywhere! The only thing 5 star about this place is those stars!

Stayed a week to attend a family wedding. Hotel in a very good spot, just outside the thick of it but just a stroll away.
There was quite a lot of 'getting ready' for the season work going on which didn't make lying around the pool very restful. On arrival at the hotel we were the only 2 people in reception so obviously very quiet. We couldn't get any food at the hotel at 11.30 pm (kitchen closed at 11) but did get a cake and coffee.
The room we were given was down on floor one (felt like the basement) but was actually ground level). The problem was it faced the lift where maintenance and cleaning staff emerged early morning. We put up with it for 2 nights but we wanted a restful break and like a sleep in, so had a word with reception, who did arrange for us to move and a very helpful member of staff helped us move to 4th floor. Why we were put down on that floor, I can't guess, seeing as hotel was practically empty. The rest of the week was quiet enough.
Some inconsistency in policies at the hotel. I cashed travellers cheques one night without any problem. The next night I was told "we don't cash cheques". I explained about the night before and the receptionist went and got advice from a supervisor and came back and agreed that she could. Then I had to tell her what to do! Also one day we asked for pool towels (given without any problem), but on our last day we were asked to fill in a card! Maybe early season teething troubles but you don't expect from 4*/5* hotel.
Breakfast was very good. Could have been a little hotter but that's not unusual.
The San Gorg had a different feel about it and was clearly a 5* but I really couldn't say the Marina hotel came across as 4*. It was 'tired' in places and the air con and fridge weren't working. One thing I couldn't fault was the staff; very helpful and friendly. The chap that moved us was most helpful.
Friends stayed at the Interncontinental (can be seen from Marina). It was in a different class (and they only paid ?20 more). Would go there again before the Marina easily. 2 double beds, comfy armchair, internet connection, large flat screen, luxury bath, walk in shower (even bathroom scales), tea making facilities. The only thing that our friends weren't happy with was they looked out onto local resident accommodation, but when you are only in your room for a few hours a day it was still worth it.
I would never say never again but it would be a last choice.

Booked a 60 Eur deal on a sea-view room, through Travelzoo and thought that excellent value for money. After reading other reviews requested a quiet room, which we received. Very pleasant balcony, where you could hear the water lapping in St. George's Bay. Excellent buffet breakfast, where choices changed daily and plenty of tables. Free internet access in the lobby area, although there are several other access points with the hotel complex (San Gorg executive floor), just ask at reception, as what initially appears to be the only terminal is always busy.
