Booked through Expedia in January for a one night stay in June. Faxed and e-mailed the hotel over a period of time for late arrival details but got no answer. When we telephoned they said they had no reservation for us but had rooms available and would book us in. We asked for a confirmation by fax or e-mail. This didn't appear. We telephoned on several occasions but were told there was no-one on the desk who could confirm our reservation. We asked Expedia to help and they also had to make several phone calls before someone could give them an answer, which was we weren't booked in and they had no rooms. A very inefficient hotel.

This is an extraordinary hotel located in a residential part of Düsseldorf close to the Rhine (its still only 5 minutes from the city centre and a great walk along the river). It only has twenty or so rooms, but each one is individually designed and decorated Laura Ashley style, with antiques and paintings.
The owner is an eccentric anglophile who appears to have modelled the hotel on an english country hotel. He and all is staff are extremely friendly. I stayed there while on business. The owner would hear nothing of me taking a taxi to work in the morning, instead personally chauffering me to the office in his vintage Bentley (which he told me used to belong to the father of the late Princess Diana).
The breakfast was always great with plenty of fresh bread, cereals and juices.
This will not appeal to you if you want WLAN in your room, or a choice of ten restaurants or room service, but it is the perfect hotel if you want quiet, comfort and atmosphere.
