We rented an apartment (not hotel room) at the Carat and found it to be clean and comfortable. The main room was furnished with a large bed (two twins put together, European style), sofa bed, table and chairs, breakfast bar with three barstools, and a television. The separate kitchenette was well supplied (coffee maker, oven, stove, fridge and plates/utensils), but lacked a toaster or dishwasher. The spacious bathroom featured a tub/shower. While others have commented on the small size and older furnishings of the hotel rooms here, we found the apartment to be ample for three people; furnishings, lighting and hallways appeared relatively new, and everything was very clean. The apartment building has a TINY elevator and a bright, open stairway. We did not try the hotel breakfast, preferring to buy groceries and relax over breakfast in the apartment. The staff were very friendly and fluent in English. The location is perfect -- a 15-20 minute walk from major attractions in central Munich, such as Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, and Pinakothek museums. U-bahn and tram connections are close by. In all, this was a very good value for a comfortable stay in a great location.

As a female guest traveling alone, I stayed at the Carat apartments twice: once in February and again for two weeks in April. On both occasions I had an excellent stay: it was the perfect combination of an apartment (capacity to prepare meals, receive visitors, etc) with access to the hotel infrastructure and services. The hotel is superbly located, within walking distance to downtown and a few minutes from the hub of underground trains and trams. The apartments are roomy and comfortable, with excellent beds and shower. Breakfast was varied and plentiful (delicious birchermuesli!)
The staff is friendly and resourceful (all young people with excellent people/language skills) and the few times I needed assistance, it was provided swiftly and effectively -- I was very impressed.
I have been traveling for a long time now and this is one of the best places I’ve found. I plan to stay there whenever I am in Munich, and would heartily recommend it. An excellent value for the money paid.

Rooms are very small and equipment not the newest.
Location of the hotel is rather fine: only 5 minutes to the Marienplatz, but 15 minutes to the Stachus. Subway is only 3 minutes walking also.
The room was clean and luckily direction inner courtyard. The street where the hotel is located is a busy one.
The staff at Reception was very helpful and friendly.
The car shouldn't be too big if you want to park in the hotel's garage! It's really a tiny space to get in there and rather tricky to find: it's once around the block..
The hotel is not new and you can see it on the furniture and equipment, unfortunately because the rest is fine.

The apartments in this hotel are OK - slightly old fashioned and tacky, but adequate. I was told the internet would be free, but the signal strength was so low in the apartment I was moved to a hotel room - which is where the problems started..... first of all the internet cost 22 Euro a day, and they wouldn't budge on letting me have it for free. The management are rude, unfriendly, an surly (there was even a point where he rolled his eyes back in his head as I was explaining I wasn't happy with the room as compared to the apartment!) Although there are some staff members who are great too.... The room is TINY TINY TINY!!! A single bed, with threadbare towels and a toilet that makes a lot of noice after flushing. The shower spills water all over the tiny floor of the bathroom (which is more like a cubicle).... If you absolutely must stay here, insist on an apartment as the rooms are like cells. I have never written a negative review before - usually if I'm unhappy I just leave it - I only like to write nice stuff. But with thegreat range of hotels in Munich, give this one a big miss!
