Having read other reviewers comments on this site we were not sure what to expect, but overall I tend to agree with what many have said. The hotel is in an ideal location, close to tram stops 1,2, and 5, and within a short walk of the numerous restaurants on the leidseplein. On arrival, the staff were welcoming, and gave us a good deal of help as to what to see and do. Our room on the ground floor was very clean but basic, but too hot by far, even though the radiator was off. Being a weekend stay, there was quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms, but after a few beers it never bothered us at all. The breakfast, served in a small area in the foyer, was more than adequate, and it set us up for the days sightseeing. Overall I would recomend this hotel to anyone travelling to Amsterdam for a short break, and on a budget, and I would certainly stay there again.

This hotel is in a great location, just a couple blocks from Light Square, but that's about the only plus. We were given a room in the basement that was very tomb-like. We couldn't tell if it was day or night. Two of the three nights of our stay, we were rudely awakened by the fire alarm going off repeatedly, all false alarms. At least the bed was comfortable.
The price quoted in our email was bumped up by 10 euros for some random, previously undisclosed, service charge. The staff is cordial, but not overly helpful.
We'd stay here again only if all other options in the same area were exhausted.
Same hotel?????

Having read some of the 'good' reveiws, I'm not sure we're talking about the same hotel!! Our room was on the 3rd floor, with a fan (from reception) going constantly, window wide open and radiator off, the temperature was nearly 30 degrees. Someone mentioned the fan in the bathroom - what fan?? Room was so small the only way we could pack to go home was to put the case on the bed - there was no way it could lie flat on the floor. My bed sloped so badly that trying to turn over was like trying to roll up hill, so most nights the only way I could sleep was sitting up! The door handle of the room our friends were in was hanging off on both sides. Having complained 3 times and been rescued once by staff as they couldn't get out, someone did come and 'fix' it - they stuck it down both sides with sellotape!!
We will never again use this hotel and would certainly never recommend it! It didn't spoil our time in Amsterdam, as we love the city, but it tried it's best!

This hotel has no stars at all- I asked at the Toursit Board and they must by law display thgis on the outside of the Hotel, they don't as they have no classification what so ever - BE AWARE-
I do not understand why they can charge 3 * prices??
