I stayed in Villa Royale for 2 nights and I liked it very much because it was close to the things I needed. I had a big room with a chandelier on the ceiling. The breakfast was not so rich in food but it was ok anyways. Very clean place. It was very warm in the rooms, you can sleep with the windows open in November!
I had a room with a view on the street so the city sounds woke me up very early...
I would stay there again.

The Hotel Villa Royale is an ok hotel in Brussels.
We stayed in December 2007 and upon arrival we were given an older styled room with a bath. My wife and I prefer a shower, so we asked if there was a possibility of a room with a shower, rather than a bath....plus, some of the rooms were being cleaned as we walked past and we noticed that they were much better and newer!
Of course, we received the usual, we're full (yeah right - it's December and freezing cold mate!)...but eventually, a new room was found and moved to this room, with a shower.
By the way, we normally don't ask for room changes, instead we just get on with it as we figure you don't spend long in a room anyway, but why not get a better room if they are available!
We had breakfast at the hotel also. This consisted of juices, croissants, meats and cheeses, cereals and fruits...not so bad all in all.
The location wasn't too bad for us, but we don't mind walking around towns. It's very close to the Jardin Botanique, which also has a metro station, so the location is accessible to the metro, and besides was a 20 minute walk to the Grand Place.
I'd probably stay there again but I couldn't see myself rushing back to Brussels anyway!

A general warning about this place. If you pay full price you can probably expect to get the room you paid for.... If you paid a lower than expected rate through any discount option (expedia, venere, ect...) you won't get what you thought you would. We showed up on time, with the confirmation in hand. Then they tell us that there are technical problems with the room!? I asked what those problems are, and they only said that there are problems and they refused to elaborate. Meanwhile the hotel looked fine, and people were coming and going, drinking at the bar and hanging out in the lobby.
Next, they said they would give us a room at the same rate, but it would be "next door" at their extension room. Saying that it was only missing a TV. We come to find that we now have to share a bathroom, which is ridiculous. If I wanted a hostel I would have got one.
On top of that, they said that my payment that I made online didn't come through!!! So, we ended up paying in cash at a discounted rate... absurd. I stopped payment on my card, which I knew wouldn't be a problem. The thing was, we had no other options.
Avoid this place if you book through a discount service as I listed above, they will try to scam you. I can't say anything about the service you receive when paying full price, but then again, I've been traveling the world for 15 years and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I'm placing a complaint about this place with every possible agency I can.
Worst hotel experience I've had yet in my life.

Buon hotel, piuttosto economico per la sua categoria. Stanza pulita e confortevole. Colazione discreta. In buona posizione, vicino alla metropolitana e comunque a 15 -20 min a piedi dal centro.

Hi folks, this hotel iz amazing. Brussels is amazing too. This is the
three star hotel which has saloon-size rooms. We had been here for 3 day/2 night and it's splendid. Also the price is competetive, only 65
EUR/per night per room included breakfast. The location is a bit far but not much than 10 minutes to downtown or Grote Markt or Manneken Pis. From zavendam airport, take train to the nord gar appx. 10 min. and the Villa Royale is after 5-10 min walking away. The hotel and rooms are very nice, bathroom too. All sheets and towels were clean. The breakfast was very good. This hotel is typical three star and price is like the two star. No concern about the hotel. If I come to Brussels again I will stay again here indeed. Thanks to Villa Royale...a Note: If you have 1 more day during your stay at Brussels I strongly recommend Brugge trip. Brugge is so cute and amazing old-town. Walk to centraal station (10-15 min. from Villa Royale) take a 2. class train ticket (roundtrip ticket is 24 EUR for 2 person) and after appx. 1 hour you are at Brugge. Take your breath at the tourist
info and get a kick out of the choco-lattes.
