The hotel was in a good location, about a 10 minute walk from the RER station and the same distance to the Latin Quarter which was great for restaurants in the evening.
Hotel was very average, nothing special but wasn't expecting much of a Paris 3 star. Bathroom tiny, with paint peeling off door and the bath/shower had definitely seen better days, although shower was actually quite powerful. No problems re heating issues as in previous reviews. We were on the 3rd floor and if you leant out your window you could see the top of the Pantheon! Ok for a short stay but have stayed in a better 2 star in Lisbon in October.
Can't comment on breakfast as we went to nearby cafes.

We booked this hotel through the Eurostar website and it had also been recommended by friends who had stayed there earlier this year. I would not describe it as"grand" in the English sense, nor "grand" in the French. Pretty average and the room (no. 605) was small. Yes, the views over the roofs of the Sorbonne are wonderful and yes, it is very convenient for the RER, the Luxembourg Gardens and the Seine which is a 10 minute stroll down the Boulevard St Michel, but for 200 Euros a night for the room and breakfast I would have expected much more. Our room was at the top of the hotel and was unbearably HOT. We fiddled with various controls to no avail and when asked, the staff were disinterested and said that was how it was. So both nights were uncomfortable. Good bathroom and average towels. Breakfast is served in a pleasant room in the basement but we had to endure the radio playing (not music but a debate) through a loudspeaker above our table which was intrusive. This radio seemed to be a feature of the hotel as it was playing loudly in reception all day. On our first morning our breakfast was also rudely interrupted by one of the staff vacuuming the staircase leading down to the breakfast room. So we had the radio AND the vacuum cleaner! So, all in all disappointing and would probably not return. I don't think we are particularly fussy or demanding but looking at other hotels in the area with similar or less room rates, we felt we should have gone elsewhere.

We booked our 2 night trip on the Eurostar and this hotel is great. Very close to the Metro and RER trains. Easy to get around and lots of places to eat nearby. Jardin de Luxembourg is about 10 min walk at the most with a fab takeaway crepe place en-route. The room was bigger than most European hotels and very clean. Pillows were a bit lumpy but the beds were comfortable. We were on the first floor by the stairs and there was no noise at all. Friendly staff as well. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on that. We walked everywhere and it always felt safe. Would stay there again.

My colleagues and I travel to Paris on a regular basis for work and have found a group of comparable hotels that we frequent. This is one of them. The location is ideal for us since we like to stay in central Paris (where the action is) and be close to the RER as work is in Massey in the south.
This is a great location. Near the Metro and RER for transport; walking distance to the Pantheon, Notre Dame, San Chapelle, Abbaye de Cluny. Great active area on the left bank near the junction of St. Michel and St. Germain des Pres. Also walking distance to one of my favourite places to walk – Isle de St. Louis. Restaurants? As it's near the student quarter, there are endless inexpensive restaurants. For a novice eater, its paradise. For the seasoned pallet, go a bit further afoot. Once out of the student quarter itself, here are many, many choices for the more discriminating.
Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly (and most speak English to one degree or another). One block away from Blvd. St. Michel, so no heavy traffic noise, but as it's near the Sorbonne, there is student street noise.
Breakfast is one of the better buffets, but for 12 euros. Just around the corner at Place de Sorbonne, there are several cafes that do breakfast for less. The Place is also a great place to sit and drink and watch life go by. (On a humorous note: My sister wanted to go to the Sorbonne, but that was vetoed by my father who sent us both to North Carolina-Chapel Hill. So as I now sit there watching all the lovely girls go by, its hard not to think that instead of having to find my own girls at Carolina, my sister could have been setting me up the French girls from the Sorbonne.)
The rooms aren't very big, but most rooms in Paris are small. In fact, some rooms are so small they at the litmus test of a relationship. If you can not fight with one another after constantly bumping into one another in these small Parisian rooms during a dirty weekend, you can most likely endure worse things. Small. But not too small. Each room has a safe, boutique toiletries and a small TV. TV reception is so-so, but with two English channels (BBC Prime and CNN).
Mattress was firm, but the pillows were very thin – as well as the towels. Rooms are air conditioned, but only the heat works in the winter. So if you have a stuffy room in winter, you have to open the window.
If this hotel is full, the other two we use are nearby: the Dacia on St. Michel and Hotel des Jardins du Luxembourg on Impasse Royer-Collard. The prices and standard are about even.
