good place to kip but thats about it. were told we didn't order a double room or breakfast even tho we definitely did.ended up with an attic room that was small but nicely decorated. was a bit hard to find when they switched the lights off at night but atleast we got peace. the bells were right next to our window but didn't bother us that much.they must take reviews into consideration as ear plugs are now supplied in rooms!the biggest downfall was that the room was so narrow we couldn't push the beds together. watch out for hidden taxes.as a repeat visitor to amsterdam i was already aware of these but first timers should be told about a 5% tax on your final bill and hotel fees to print your bill.you can't fault the location of the hotel.if all your looking for is a place to crash then this place is for you.

Stayed her for two nights July 18th -20th 2008. As other reviewers have noted, we were charged an extra 25 Euros on checkout for breakfast even though it was included in our booking. I was in a part yof 20 and ours was the only room that was charged this. All rooms were booked at the same time.If hotel staff read these reviews, can I have my money back ?
Our double room (320) was fairly small, two single beds pushed up against each other. Bathroom large and clean but shower inefficient to the point of being virtually useless. Shower curtain rail bowing in the middle and held together with black tape.
This hotel is in an excellent central location, very close to Dam Square, the Red light district and the railway station. Downsid e to this of course, as with any city centre hotel, is noise, particularly the bells as others have noted. On the plus side, my companions and I managed to drink so much that this was never a problem for us.
Breakfast excellent, but breakfast room extremely hot, to the point of being uncomfortable. If i get some money back from them I would use this place again. Otherwise, no.

Hotel Terminus - Amsterdan

Stayed at the Hotel Terminus and it has a great location and is a clean hotel (bring washcloths they do not have them). We took the train from the airport - about 20 minutes and you get off at Centraal Station which is a 10 minute walk from the Terminus (an easy walk). The breakfast is very nice and not only coldcuts they have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage along with fruit, ceral and assorted pastries. We had several tours booked with Lindburgh Tours and the tour office where the buses leave from was a 3 minute walk from the Terminus (Damrik St. I think) and it was so easy to get to. The hotel is one block from the famous "Red Light District" so it was easy to walk through. The only drawback to the hotel was the checkin time. We arrived at 9AM and could not checkin until 3PM but they did have a luggage room to store bags. The hotel was full so maybe if it's not they will let you checkin early does not hurt to ask. Nice clean bathroom with tub and shower and plenty of hot water. Would recommend a stay here.
More than I expected

Had an extremely good experience at Hotel terminus. Booked triple room (one queen one single bed). Great size room 219 with large double window and a table and three chairs, overlooking the courtyard. Had no problem with the bells we rather enjoyed them (maybe the smoke in the air?). No face cloths. Narrow spiral staircase (pretty cool). Couldn't hear the neighbours. Location, location, location, 50 feet from redlight district. 10 min walk to centraal stn. Good staff quite helpful. If you are there to enjoy red light and cafes I didn't see a better place. Electronic room keys. Will definitely be staying at Terminus on our next trip!
