Worst Experience of my life! I booked this hotel using the pictures online for Euroshop 2008 expecting good level of comfort. Instead I was greated with a very Irate woman speaking in a foreign language. I reserved the room for 5 days and she billed my credit card for the full period in advance.
I asked to see the room before I commited and she became more angry. The Elevator could barely fit 2 people and there was no lights in the corridor so I could not even fit the key in the door.
Upon opening the room I was in shock at how small and very poor quality the room was. The matress looked sponge filled, the room was extremey small and the furniture looked like it was made by the owner himself...!! The Tv could have been 8-10 inches small and you would need a microscope to look at it.
I told the woman that her room looked nothing like her website and she yelled and screamed at me and warned to call the police for me, this is after she had billed my credit card for the full stay at an average of 240 Euro for 5 days for ,me and my business partner, very expensive for this low level.
I had no choice but to leave and walk the streets to find another hotel. I eventually found the Holiday Inn nearby which was perfect and just a bit more money.
After writing a company letter and warning of a lawsuit she agreed to settle on 2 days charges, of course this put me back approx 950 euro because my colleage was with me. Her cancellation policy demanded 80-100% payment unless 48 hours prior.
I told her I would make it my duty to warn others of this disaster after spending almost 1000 euro and having to stay else where but she didnt care.
All in all the is a very low quality hotel at a very expensive price and horrible cancellation policy incase you dont like it. The amenities and nothing as they are listed and you can get a 4-5 star hotel for a few dollars more.
PS - I tried to take a photo of my room but she actually kicked us out otherwise I would have posted it up in here.
Regards
Gerald

I stayed here for two nights. Overall I was quite pleased with what I payed for the service. It was quite cheap, the location is quite central and in a safe neighbourhood, not in the old city centre, but very close to the railway station.
The room was fine. Sure, it wasn't the most modern accomodation overall, but the rooms where finely equipped (the furniture and bad room were in very good condition). The breakfast was also good, but not extraordinary - it would be unfair to expect that for these rates.
The only minor point was that one day I arrived quite late and the front door was alreay closed. They told me I could just ring the bell and someone would be opening the door for me. It took at least 15 minutes before someone answered the door. I guess he must have fell asleep.
Anyway, if I would look for a quite cheap place in Dusseldorf where I would only be sleeping for a couple of nights, I would go for this hotel again. If you're looking for something nice, where you could also spend a relaxing afternoon, go for another hotel.

This is a hotel made for “overnight” use only. It’s not so bad, I guess, it’s very practical, given the balance between the money I paid and the kind of room and service I’ve got. The location is not bad, not so central, but that didn’t really ruin my stay.
The neighborhood did bother me a little, it was a bit too much on the seedy side for my taste, although that may be an exaggeration. I also had some problems with the staff, they didn’t seem to be very organized down there. This is not a hotel made for people in a hurry, that’s for sure, or at least the personnel don’t think so, if you don’t badger them over and over to solve your problem, they couldn’t care less.
If you’re lucky enough not to experience such problems or if you can deal with them, and if you’re not planning on staying more than several nights here, the Regina is OK. The best thing about it: cleanest rooms I’ve seen in a hotel at this price. I was actually amazed, because, as my troubles with the staff began as soon as I arrive, I kind of expected the worst. But even the bathroom was clean and not so small as I thought it would be. They even change towels on Sunday. So, maybe if they did something about their staff training, people wouldn’t complain (I saw other reviews mentioning such troubles here). As for breakfast, no surprises, bad or good, it was more or less ok. I don’t know if the TV worked or not, how many channels you could watch, because I didn’t turn it on even once. And another thing about the staff, a good thing, for once: they can speak English, so at least you can get through to them. Eventually.

Great, cheap hotel

If you are looking for a spotless hotel for a bargain price, this is the hotel for you.
Stayed here with my husband for 3 nights in April/May 2007.
We paid just under 60 euros a night for a double room incl. breakfast.
The hotel looks a bit spooky on the outside and has a couple of sex related shops around it, so first impression is not great.
The rooms are small with fresh toilet and shower.
TV has one American and one British news channel, all other programs in German. But you might not have gone on holiday to watch TV.
Breakfast OK, with boiled eggs and the basics. Coffee and tea not too brilliant, a bit on the weak side.
Cleaning and change of towels every day, even Sundays.
About 15 min. walk to old town and Rein promenade.
If you’ve gone to see Düsseldorf and want to stay in a clean place for a cheap price and at a central location, this is a good choice. Staff speaks enough English to be able to help you with your requests.
Worst hotel ever

I stayed for 3 terrible nights at this hotel this month. I phoned from the UK 3 days before arrival to advise that I would arrive after midnight. On arrival at 12.20 in the morning, my room had been given to someone else and I had to wait until 12.45am to go to the room. 2 out of the 3 days at the hotel the staff were unable to put my family calls through to my room with one of their excuses being that the person calling me did not know my name - this was my sister! On 2nd night the owner tried to get into my room at approx. 10pm. I was in bed and screamed. He later said that he had been going to the next room to change a light and had open my room by mistake! (I am a female). I would advise anyone against staying at this hotel and especially women travelling alone.
