My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while travelling. The location couldn't have been better. We parked our car and walked everywhere. I requested a quiet room and I was glad that I did. Bourbon Street was still noisey and bustling when we went to our room and we slept like babies. We had breakfast in the restaurant and the food was great. Service in the restaurant was okay, but lacked attention to detail. We had to ask for salt and pepper and waitress brought coffee and then had to go back to get cream and sugar. Housekeeping was okay, basically made the beds and brought fresh towels. I expected more from a 4 diamond hotel, but overall we had a pleasant stay.

This is a very nice hotel right in the French Quarter on Bourbon Street. We went for the French Quarter Jazz Festival and had a great time. They close down most of the streets in the area for musicians, so you wander around and listen. There is a schedule of guests plus the local musicians who set up on their own (our favorites were Doreens Jazz Band and Loose Marbles).
The hotel is very nice. We had an outside room which I thought was going to be noisy, but we were not bothered at all! The rooms are lovely, the bathrooms are a little small, but have nice ammenities. There is a really nice bar with live entertainment each night we were there. We went to the Sunday brunch, which was excellent, but the selection was so great we didn't even come close to tasting half of what they offerered!
The pool area is very tropical feeling and there is a great bar right there too.
Overall it was a nice stay and we plan on going back to the same hotel next year.

Beautiful but Horrible Hotel

Stayed at the hotel May 2008. Great location, friendly staff, beautiful room; however the noise from the Country Bar below was excruciating!!! Had a room facing inward toward the pool, as others had recommended, however, the bar band on the first level cranked it up around 4pm and continued to thump until 6am! The room actually vibrated from the noise. Hotel rooms are for resting so you can play some more, but not at this hotel. Recommend staying somewhere else, even if you are a heavy sleeper(like I am).
exactly what we were looking for

All around this was a very nice and enjoyable hotel. The lobby was beautiful, our room was very nice and clean, and the pool area/courtyard were beautiful. As another reviewer commented -they need to replace the carpet in the rooms, but otherwise the rooms were great. The beds were fantastic - nice bed linens and pillows. We didn't have any of the other reviewers problems with noise at night. The toilets were very loud, but other than that the room was quite. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. Great location right on Bourbon Street.

We splurged and booked two Bourbon Street balcony rooms for a post-graduation celebration with our two young adult daughters. Although the hotel itself is a little long-in-the-tooth, its location on lower Bourbon Street can't be beat. There are nicer, fancier hotels and inns nearby, but we chose the Royal Sonesta specifically for its location. Yes, it's noisy and you can hear music and rowdy crowds until late at night, but we anticipated this too. Bourbon Street was busier for an early June Monday and Tuesday night than I would have expected, but we had fun sitting on the balcony, throwing beads at the crowds who happened to walk by.
