Food - I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older and more like Richard Wilson every day, but I felt the food (we only had breakfast at the hotel) could have been better. Bags of choice but very much geared towards those who like fruit, cakes and meat for breakfast.
If you want to eat out there are some brilliant restaurants near by. If you like ice-cream then there is a little Haggen Daaz place just next to the door that leads down to the sea-front.
The Bar - Again its "I don't believe it!!", as far as the bar goes. Very expensive and limited in choice. They do have a guy who plays the piano most nights although his repertoire is limited to the works of Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
Probably the best hotel in Palma but just to echo previous comments try to avoid rooms situated on the right hand side (As if you were facing the sea - the same side as reception) as the all night disco can be a little noisy....it's located on the 3rd or 4th floor which doesn't help.

Spent 4 nights at theGran Melia over the late May bank Holiday weekend. We had a Marina and Cathedral view double room, which was the 3rd most expensive room. My wife loved playing with the electric curtains ! The room decor is looking tired, that said it was spotless. They have a turning down service at night. The main hotel areas had an old dampy sort of smell - not apparent in the bedrooms though. The main road infront of the hotel opposite the marina was very busy and noisy, even with the balcony door shut the noise was still present. Staff were great and the breakfast chefs were very accomodating. A Brandy and lemonade cost 14 Euros an a small beer 5.50 Euros, so not the cheapest of places to get drunk. Found it easy to get taxis to move around the city. A walk to the cathedral takes about 20 mins. The outdoor pool is dated, the poolman will bring you pool towels and a mattress for the sun bed, when you appear by the pool. the indoor pool was a tiny joke of an affair ! The gym is outside in the shade by the side of the pool. As the Hotel is lower at the roadside than at the front of the hotel you have to get two lifts to get out to the pool or the roadside. I would not recommend this hotel for people in wheelchairs. Join the Melia club and you get to keep your room for a lte checkout for free.

Just returned from a 4 day break staying at the Gran Melia Victoria. We were a small group of 8, who were looking for a 'quality' hotel, convenient location, above average facilities at a reasonable cost. Gran Melia ticked all the boxes, though I would agree with other reviewers who comment on the somewhat 'seedy' area to the rear of the hotel. the views, promenade and marina to the front of the hotel are however spendid. We found the staff professional, efficient and helpful. My only critisism would involve a large group of approx 20, lets say 'mature' golfers from the UK. Although well behaved, their presence 'en masse' in either the bar or the restaurants (particularly at breakfast) somewhat dominated proceedings.
Otherwise an excellent hotel we all agreed we would definately return to in the future.

Very nice hotel, located very near the center of Palma. Very large rooms, very nice staff. I went with a group of friends, walking distance to all of Palma's nightclubs, which are many and are awesome. I totaly recommend it!

Stayed for one night at the end of a four day break in Mallorca, our room (420) was very luxurious overlooking the bay and cathedral.
When we returned to the hotel after an evening meal in Palma our bed had been turned down, chocolates on the pillow and the towels replaced in the bathroom.
All the staff were extremely pleasant and polite, we didn't eat at the restaurant but had lunch and an early breakfast in our room, the service and food were excellent.
Hotel not in an ideal position with very busy road and lots of music bars, however, we were not disturbed as the sound proofing in the room was very good.
