Just returned from 6 night stay at Tryp Bosque and believe it to be excellent value for money.Via www.travelzoo.com,we bagged a clean, well appointed double room for 50 euros, per night as part of a Sol Melia promotion(hotel chain owned by Sol Melia)
Hotel is favoured by ebullient,beer-friendly Air Berlin flight crews,so always a lively but comfortable atmosphere in the hotel.
Tried room service ,on one occasion = good value, well presented.
Prior to arrival,I requested a high level room ,with view to the Cathedral, and that is exactly what I got.Staff very friendly and helpful with useful recommendations and excellent info. re- trips/buses/taxis etc.
Pool area is dated but all other amenities seemed to be very good.
Would recommend the breakfast = very fresh, good selection of hot and cold dishes.
Didn't fancy the look of the restaurants in immediated vicinity but the Old Town has some of the best food available - for tapas,go no further than Taberna de la Boveda,on the sea front,a block prior to the Cathedral.Excellent tapas, also,at No.13,a superb bistro in Carrer Feliu, behind the cathedral.
Abaco,an up-market cocktail bar,in Carrer St.Joan, back of Placa Llotja,is an experience,as is the Hindu Indian restaurant, found on the same block as hotel Costa Azul,on sea front.
There is a set gastronomic menu, changed daily, which includes wine, and amounts to about 15 fabulous courses, all managed by very informative and attentive manager = euro33 per head but well worth it
As for the city,Palma is very cosmopolitan and this is reflected in the variety of eating/drinking/entertainements on offer with prices not far off uk.
The train/tram trip to Soller/Puerto Soller is great but best free trip is the fabulous walk around the bay of Palma-offset by numerous refreshment stops.
All in all, would recommend hotel as cheap, clean, well located base but,as it is uphill walk back from town, not for less able

Stayed at this hotel end of June beginning of July, staff warm and friendly, clean rooms, staff most helpful and close enough to the front once you have found your way.
While we were there Air Berlin used it daily for their air crews.
It is situated in a quite street with little passing trafic, there are some eating establishments close at hand but about 5minute walk brings you to some good eating establishments.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone it is about a five to six minute walk to the front and about 20 minutes walk to the Catherdrel area. The swimming pool was good and a lifeguard on most of the time.
Sun beds need a clean and refurbishment but apart from that everything was great.

This is a very good hotel for the cost. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and very clean. However, the star of the whole show is the great breakfast that is supplied, there is a choice for everyone from full english breakfast to continental. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who asked.

Tryp Bosque - good value for money
Guest name: Bluetoppedpen, St Helens
Just returned from a 5 day break staying at the Tryp Bosque - hotel was a 15 - 20 minute walk from the city centre wth a taxi rank 200m from the hotel and a bus stop a short walk away. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and our package included breakfast which was a decent buffet style - the only down side at the moment is the sun deck which is in need of a face lift... Would say it's a good value for money hotel you want a day at the beach you won't go far wrong packing a bag and catching the no 3 to Illetes - a lovely beachy cove 25 mins away. Word of caution - the bus stop is on a one way road so the bus back doesn't stop at the same place...
best value hotel

My wife and I used it as a base to visit and see Palma as well as trips into the countryside and to the beaches in the South west particularly Paguera which is beautiful. The hotel was wonderful. we had a lovely room and balcony facing north on a high floor. Beds were very comfortable and rooms were spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the breakfasts so much we seldom needed lunch and ate in for dinner too in the evening.
You must go on the little train to Soller and then the tram to Puerto Soller. You travel through the countryside then over and through tunnels to get past the mountains to arrive in Soller which is lovely . Puerto Soller is a " must see "resort on the north west coast. It is by far the prettiest resort on the island, On the days we have visited the air is crystal clear,it really is beautiful.
the hotel is used by airlines to put up staff overnight , and they will not use rubbish hotels, which this one definately is not .
