After much searching for an hotel in Yokyakarta, on the strength of reviews for the Melia Purosani, I booked a 4 night stay here - I was not disappointed. The hotel location is fantastic (walking distance to Malioboro Street & easy to get public transport), The room was immaculate (tasteful & modern with great firm beds), No complaints about the breakfast (plenty of choice), staff (friendly and efficient). The hotel itself is not cheap, but I would regard it as value for money, on the basis you get what you pay for. You have to remember this is regarded as a "Luxury" hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to go to Yokyakarta, but not on a tight budget. If I was returning to Yokyakarta, it would be my first choice of hotel.

in very-very good hotel, i loved

The Melia has a great location. If you're in Yogya to see the sights and do some shopping, there's no better location to go for. If like me, you're not sure of the locations of alternative hotels, this is the only quality hotel that is bang in the heart of the shopping/cultural area. That's not to say it's busy or noisy or in a polluted environment. It's tucked away down a smaller road, just far enough away. Others 4/5* hotels are on the fringe of downtown or in a resort setting (the Hyatt in particular is probably 20-30 mins out). Certainly none are walking distance of Jalan Malioboro. It is a 10-minute walk to Malioboro (the main tourist/shopping district and artery of the city). Breakfast was awesome and the pool very nice (decent size, nice setting). The room itself was nothing stunning, but a decent size. The hotel looks a bit old, but some refurb work was in progress when we were there. All the staff were friendly and efficient.
