Turned up on speck but unfortunately never got past reception so can`t comment on the quality of the hotel. The receptionist however needs to be re-trained on how to treat customers. We arrived around 4.00 pm looking for a double room for a few days. Upon entering the reception area a guy, presumably a guest, was walking down the stairs clutching an open lap top heading for reception as well. Although we were first `in the queue` we somehow ended up being ignored and listened to the receptionist explain to this guy the ins and outs of WiFi connection. This conversation went on and on and after 10 minutes of waiting we walked out. Frankly it was an appalling way to treat prospective guests. Not one word to the guy like `hang on a few minutes whilst I check these people in` and not one word to us like ` I`ll be with you as soon as I can, please bear with me` We checked into another hotel a few yards away. The reception area in that hotel was log jammed but we were checked in and in our room within 3 minutes. Now that`s service for you. Although I read trip Advisor reviews regularly I have never been moved to pass a bad comment on any hotel I have stayed in but in this occasion the terrible service warrents it. That apart Bilbao was fantastic !! A wonderful, wonderful city.

Enjoyed 4 nights at the Tryp Arenal. The rooms were modern and well maintained. The location is convenient to the old town (1 block) and the train station (2 blocks). The tram runs right by the hotel. The Guggenheim is about a 15 minute walk along the river. I especially like being close to the old town with tapas bars and restaurants only a block or two away. Despite being in a busy location the room was quiet. I booked my room on the Tryp web site and got a very good rate of Euro 50. Did not try the breakfast (not part of the cheap rate) and instead got food from local restaurants, which were plentiful. Had dinner one night in the hotel and it was very good and reasonably priced (had several menus to choose from). The people at the front desk spoke good English and were friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back to the Tryp especially if I could get a low internet rate again.

Una habitación cómoda y bien ubicación, puesto que no me suponía tanto esfuerzo darme un paseo de quince minutos hasta el Guggenheim, además muy cerca de la estación del metro. Un desayuno bufé bastante bueno. Conseguí una buenísima tarifa a través de Expedia.
