I needed a hotel close to both the airport and the conference centre at short notice and this hotel had a room.
I can understand some of the comments regarding the 4* not being worthy and if your trip was for leisure then I am not sure you would be happy however for a business trip it was fine.
The reception staff were helpful, the choice of food/bars were extensive, I did not feel intimidated at any time being a lone woman, it was very quick and easy to get online in the room and the breakfast was standard Spanish 'fodder' - which I like.
I cannot find fault with anything about my stay but I do agree with the 'looking tired' comments of other reviewers. If I have paid the cost of the night I would have been disappointed with the overall quality feel of the hotel. However I would not hestitate to stay here again if attending FITUR or travelling for business.

You expect noise in Spain, but not in a hotel of this standard. Noisy plumbing meant being woken up every time someone in a room above used the bathroom.
And there are FIVE restaurants / cafes in the hotel. But only ONE is non-smoking.
Don't rely on the free shuttle bus to get you to the airport in time. At times there are too many passengers and you have to wait for it to do the rounds and come back.

Cannot understand the negative reviews. My wife and I spent 2 nights at the hotel, and had a very enjoyable stay. We chose the hotel for its close proximity to the airport (as we were leaving on an early morning flight). The 24 hour complimentary shuttle bus service was regular and efficient Although the hotel is well away from the centre of Madrid, this did not cause any problems as there is a metro station (Alameda de Osuna) fairly close by - approx. 10 minutes walk. From here you can get to all the tourist spots for around 1 euro. The breakfast buffet was varied, plentiful, and enjoyable.
Maybe the hotel does need a 'face lift'- some of the paintwork may be a little shabby - the basin in the bathroom did show signs of wear, and if you looked for it, you could find bits of 'threadbare' carpet - but this does not detract from what is in my opinion a really good hotel in an excellent location.

This hotel was very nice and worth the money. Looked like it had recently gone through renovation, so the room was very fresh and new. The three bars downstairs were very enjoyable and the pool, yet small, was very peaceful. Would definitely suggest this hotel if you are looking to spend a night prior to your flight out of Madrid. The shuttle service was puntual and very handy.

I chose to stay in the Tryp Diana because I have stayed in the Tryp chain before and liked it and because of the Tryp Diana's proximity to Barajas airport. Tryp Diana offers a 24-hour shuttle service to the airport (shuttle arrives every 15 minutes), which we found incredibly convenient, especially in the early hours of the morning.
The hotel is located approximately 10-15 minutes from the airport. On the way in, we took a cab and it seemed to take a lot longer to arrive than when we left on the shuttle the next morning. FYI: cab cost us about 15 euros. The hotel is on a street with several other hotels. It seemed to be a fairly residential neighborhood. From the very spacious balcony of our room, we noticed a nice, peaceful park and playground.
The room itself was very large, with a comfortable queen-sized bed, table and chair, desk, computer hookups, and TV. There is also a nice tour book of Madrid to browse through. Finding a welcome with my name on the TV screen when we entered was a nice touch! The bathroom provided oversized, plush bath towels, 2 hand towels, and several amenities such as shoe shine, comb, and an in-shower shampoo/body wash dispenser.
For dinner, we ate at the "cafeteria" downstairs. There is a small bar and dining area. The menu was pretty limited, but fine for our purposes; 2 meals, 2 drinks and a dessert cost us about 25 euros.
The lobby offers 4 computers with pay-per-use internet service. When checking my email, I also noticed that there was another restaurant/bar behind us and, past the front desk, the breakfast dining area. We also saw a different bar where folks were watching the Eurocopa. You will not go hungry if you stay in this hotel!
In the morning, we decided to check out the breakfast buffet (open at 6 am), but it was 17 euros, which was too steep for us. Instead, we had a coffee at the bar (where we'd had dinner the night before).
The first airport shuttle was packed at 6:50 am, so we waited for the next one, which got there very quickly.
I was very pleased with the efficiency and comfort of this hotel. It allowed us to get a good night's sleep before our transatlantic flight early the next morning.
Room cost us about $140 total. I would not spend this much on an airport hotel room in the States (tend to be cheaper), but I felt like it was worth it this time.
